[12319] William was appointed Archbishop of York in 1142 and was hounded from the see by those who charged simony (he is nephew of King Stephen), mostly of the newly arrived White Monks supported by St. Bernard of Clairvaux. Assa (b. ca. 700, dau of Systein) according to an unverified Web site in 2003: http://www.stirnet.com/HTML/genie/ancient/tz/viking03.htm He was King of the Soloër Islands, Raumarike and Hedemark, Toten, Hadeland, Vestfold, all in Middle- and South-Norway, and later also Vermeland, king of the Upplands in Norway, who, having been Swedish, left Uppsala and migrated to Norway. So they sent an army against Solve, killed him, brought Halvdan back to Sweden as a prisoner then made him king. Eventually, he became a great king in Vestfold, in what is now southeastern Norway. There he married Åse of Oppland, the daughter of Oystein the Severe, King of Oppland and Hedmark (where the Scheies and Myklebys, respectively, came from). Halvdan lived peacefully and died in his bed as an old man in 740. Halvdan and Åses son was Oystein Halvdansen Freet, born in 710, who married Hild Eriksdatter, the daughter of King Erik Agnarsen."
