[31422] "The Evening News [Harrisburg, PA]. 4 December 1941," p. 21: "Lemoyne, Dec. 4. Funeral services for William E. Kimmel, 73, of 402 Herman avenue, who died last evening at the Harrisburg Hospital from injuries suffered when he fell down the cellar steps at his home after a birthday party in his honor Tuesday night, will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Musselman funeral home, with the Rev. C. C Bailey, pastor of Grace Evangelical Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Camp Hill. Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home tomorrow night after 7 o'clock.- ' A retired employe of the Harrisburg Steel Corporation, completing service last March in the open hearth department, Kimmel died the day following his seventy-third birthday. He had been guest of honor at a birthday party Tuesday night and after his friends left, he went to the cellar for some coal. It is believed he suffered a stroke while ascending the stairs and he fell backwards to the bottom. Death was caused by a fractured skull. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Jennie Kimmel; four daughters, Mrs. Quay Taylor; Mrs. Walter Smith and Mrs. Kenneth Billman, all of Lemoyne and Mrs. Emory Grissinger, Harrisburg; three sons, Vance, Carl, and Donald, all of Lemoyne; two sisters, Mrs. Harry Witman, and Mrs. Minnie Parthmore, both of Lemoyne; two brothers, Howard, Lemoyne, and Aaron, Harrisburg; eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren." His family is shown in the 10 April 1920 federal census in Lemoyne, Cumberland Co., PA - he is working in a pipe mill and is age 61; his wife is Jennia (age 56) - both are b. in PA of parents b. in PA - daughter Treva C. is shown as age 19.

"Republican and Herald [Pottsville, Pennsylvania], 4 April 1935," p. 4: "Jerome Levanovich, popular young nan, has returned to his home at 201 West Coal street after being graduated from the Eckel's School of Embalming, Philadelphia. He will take his state board examination for a mortician's license later. Mr. Levanovich is the son of the late William and Margaret Levanovich. The Levanovich undertaking business established by his father over 48 years ago and oontinued by his wife until her death, is still being carried on by a daughter, Mrs. Jennie O'Haren, wife of undertaker Thomas O'Haren. Jerome is a graduate of the Shenandoah High School, class of 1933. His many friends in the community will be pleased to learn of his graduation from the Eckel school, and his early entrance into the business so successfully established by his parents."

He was pronounced dead on arrival at Hahnemann Hospital. For a number of years he conducted his undertaking business at Coal and West streets where his parents had also been engaged in the same business. He later moved to North Main street. Surviving are his widow, Agnes, two sons, Airman 1/c Jerome, of South Carolina, and Airman 1/c John, in Alaska; a daughter, Abbie Anne; a sister, Mrs. Jennie O'Haren and a niece, Christine O'Haren, both of Baltimore, Md. His body will be brought to town for burial."
