[49916] "Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]. 9 February 2022": "Virginia B. Hutchins, 'Ginny,' 94, died peacefully at home with her daughters by her side on January 25, 2022. Ginny was next to the youngest of 12 children born into the tightly-knit farm family of Seth and Ethel Bradstreet in Albion, Maine. Small in stature, Ginny's competitive edge was an asset to her softball and basketball teams. Ginny's oratory skills carried her throughout life as a leader in the many varied organizations in which she participated. Ginny graduated Valedictorian from Besse High in Albion and became a registered nurse at Eastern Maine General Hospital in Bangor. Ginny was a member of the nursing corps during World War II and continued to combine her kind gentle manner with her nursing skills at hospitals, the University of Maine Infirmary, nursing homes, and in State Department health centers at the foreign posts where she lived with her family. Ginny was a member of The Church of Universal Fellowship in Orono for 60 years, most recently attending services online. Ginny was active in International Women's clubs in Africa, Asia, and Europe; she was a member of the General Federation of Women's clubs at home in Maine, local garden clubs, and a Girl Scout leader. She was an active member of her schools' alumni associations and a founding member of the West Quoddy Head Light Keepers Association in Lubec. Ginny worked hard with organizations to raise money for local needs and especially for scholarships to be awarded to students aspiring in the nursing field. Ginny enjoyed being outside in her flower gardens, walking along beaches and hiking trails in the many countries where she lived. Ginny was an excellent creative cook, seamstress, quilter, crafter, and she carried on the family art of crewel embroidery. The Hutchins kept their door and dinner table open to friends dropping in; you knew you were always welcome and that there was an open seat at the dinner table for you. Ginny was predeceased in 2019 by her husband, Deane L. Hutchins, MD, of 69 years, and in 2012 by her son-in-law, Thomas. Ginny is survived by her younger brother, Seth (Betty); her 4 daughters: Jean (Roger), Sally, Nancy (Tom), and Becky; 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, dear friends and neighbors from around the world."

Later dedicated her professional life to serving others, first as a lab technician at Bangor's St. Joseph's Hospital, and a social worker at KidsPeace Campus in Ellsworth. MaryLou's dedication was equally paralleled by her profound love for her family. She leaves behind, husband, Bruce; her sons, Sean Trahan and his wife, Tonya, of Rowlett, TX, and Shane Trahan and his wife, Tricia, of Raleigh, NC; her beloved grandson, Aiden Trahan; and grand dogs, Tillie and Buster. MaryLou is greeted in the afterlife by parents, Ralph and Verna Parks, of Veazie, Maine. MaryLou will be deeply missed, her spirit, contributions to her community, and love of family will forever be remembered."

The Poores came from near Salisbury in Wiltshire, England. They embarked from Southampton, England, with Stephen Dummer and his, wife, Alice (who may have been the Poore's aunt) aboard the ship Bevis; Robert Batten, Master, in 1638. The Poores landed in Boston, Suffold, MA, and went immediately to Newbury where brother, John (who came to America in 1635) settled. Daniel remained in Newbury until 1644, when he removed to Cochicawic, now known as Andover. (Since Andover was not founded until 1649, he would not have gone there as a settler until then. I doubt if he went to Andover until after he married in 1650. NE Families: Poor - Daniel Poore, the immigrant ancestor. came from England in the ship 'Bevis'. Captain Robert Batten, master, sailing from Southampton with sixty other passengers in May, 1638, when he was fourteen years of age. He came in the family of Stephen and Alice Dummer. In the same ship came also Samuel Poore, and Alice Poore, who married George Little, of Newbury, Massachusetts. Daniel doubtless lived in Newbury about ten years, and Samuel and Alice settled for life there. John Poore, probably an elder brother, also settled there and another brother, Thomas Poore, settled and died at Andover, leaving neither wife nor children. Daniel Poore married in Boston, October 20, 1650. Mary Farnum, sister of John Farnum, whoalso settled in Andover, and has many descendants in that section. Daniel Poore died June 8, 1689, aged sixty-five; his wife also died in Andover, February 3, 1714, aged eighty-five years. Their home was on the easterly side of the Shawshineriver, not far from its mouth and near the station on the Boston & Maine railroad in North Andover near the Merrimac river, and the street railway from Lawrence to North Andover passes near the site of the old house. The ancient bridge over the Shawshine river is near by and the homestead included land on both sides of the river below the bridge."
