[43370] http://familypedia.wikia.com/wiki/John_Lathrop_(1584-1653) offers: "Rev. John Lothropp (1584-1653) - sometimes spelled Lothrop or Lathrop - was an English Anglican clergyman, who became a Congregationalist minister and emigrant to New England. He was among the first settlers of Barnstable MA. Perhaps Lothropp's principal claim to fame is that he was a strong proponent of the idea of the Separation of Church and State (also called 'Freedom of Religion'), keeping the government out of religion and religion out of the government. This idea was considered heretical in England during his time, but eventually became the mainstream view of people in the United States of America, because of the efforts of John Lothropp and others. Lothropp left an indelible mark on the culture of New England, and through that, upon the rest of the country. He has had many notable descendents, including at least 6 US presidents, as well as many other prominent Governors, and government and business people." Find A Grave Memorial 7518784 offers extensive information about John and his family.

NEHGR Vol. 7 lists Alice Hilton, 18, on pasenger list 24 April 1635 of "Ann & Elizabeth". She was supposed to be wife of George Walton, q.v.
However, Jim Walton
"First his wife's name was not Alice Hilton. See my article in The New Hampshire Genealogical Record, Vol 27, Nos. 3-4, July/October 2010, 'Who Was Alice, Wife of George Walton?' George was my 9th GGF and I have done some extensive research into his life, including trying to find the connection between Alice and the Hiltons. This article is the fruit of that research and no connection can be found. The Alice Hilton who is generally believed to be his wife was not the daughter of William Hilton (who had no daughter named Alice - TGMB pp. 953-4) and she went to Barbados, not New Hampshire.
"Another thing you might find interesting in my article is the references to Alexander Waldron. I am of the belief that he was the father of Abishag based on his concern for the child, and the statements she made when told she should make a will (NHSP v31, Probate v1, pp 230-1). I also searched the Waldron/Walderne family and could not find any reference that would connect her with that family. There is a lot of evidence that his brothers did not share in his concern, and there seemed to be constant bad blood between George and the Waldrons. This is speculation right now, but I am still researching the possibilities. The editor didn't do as good a job as I would have liked, but I'm working on another article about this possibility.
"In 1638 George was in Boston (fined for swearing), in 1639 he was in Exeter (signed Combination), in 1643 he was in Dover (Scales, History of Dover). He was married prior to 1642 which would lead me to believe he married Alice in Exeter, not Great Island. It is possible she was from Dover, which may have prompted his move there, but finding her history has been a real challenge.
"I'm glad to see you indicated his dead child was a male. Not many people pick up on that fact because it is not real obvious, but a careful reading of the court papers do make the inference pretty plain.
"Also, George did not have any slaves, and no black servants. One English writer spoke of a black servant, but he was unfamiliar with America and it is believed that he was referring to his Indian servant. I have only found this one reference to a black in any of the research I have done on George.
"An excellent book on the Lithobolia is 'The Devil of Great Island' by Emerson W. Baker. (Palgrave Macmillan, 2007). Unfortunately, he didn't do his homework thoroughly enough and perpetuates the Hilton myth, but that was not the thrust of his book, so it is understandable.
"Did you know that his 3rd GGS, Benjamin Lincoln Lear (Mary "Polly" Long, Pierse Long, Pierse Long, Abigail Walton, Shadrach Walton, George) was born in President George Washington's home in Philadelphia in 1792? Just another interesting story. :)"

[9401] Evelyn's obituary: "Evelyn E. Briner, 91, of W. Main Street, New Bloomfield died Tuesday, June 12, 2007 in The Manor at Perry Village, New Bloomfield. She was born June 24, 1915 in Mifflintown to the late Harry and Margaret (Kauffman) Zeiders. She was a homemaker; a graduate of New Bloomfield High School; and a member of Perry Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was the widow of Donald Briner. Surviving are two daughters, Donna Feinstein of Lebanon and Sandi Bazza of Billrica, Mass.; granddaughters, Shelli Barondick of Mt. Gretna, Jennifer Feinstein of Myerstown and Jill Dideriksen of Lebanon; and three great-grandchildren, Kally, Jared and Dakota Feinstein. She was preceded in death by a brother, Martin Zeiders, and two sisters, Irene Briner and Marian Hostetter." Ancestry.com states Zeiders is really the surname Seider which means: "South German . . . occupational name for a silk merchant, from an agent derivative of German Seide 'silk', Middle High German side. South German: habitational name for someone from Seyde in Saxony or Seiderau in Bavaria."
