[6853] Albert's obituary: "Woolwich - Albert Baxter Moore, 80, of Woolwich died Sunday, August 29, 2021, at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick. He was born in Bangor on January 25, 1941, the son of Baxter Bradford and Winifred Berkeley (Haynes) Moore. He graduated from Silver Lake Regional High School in Kingston, MA in 1959. As a teenager he worked summers at his uncle Jasper Hayness Maine Guide business at Buckhorn Camps on Middle Jo-Mary Lake, near Millinocket, Maine. He graduated in 1963 from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. He then completed two years of post-graduate work at the University of Massachusetts at Lowell, in Pulp and Paper Engineering. He was formerly married to V. Faith Schaffrath Moore of Salem, MA. Albert took a position as Process Engineer, Laboratory Management at Georgia Pacific Plattsburgh, NY. He worked extensively on the start-up of a chemi-mechanical pulp mill. Later, at Nekoosa Edwards Paper Company, Port Edwards, Wisconsin, he worked as a Quality Control Engineer, Xerox, during which he was responsible for product and process improvements to meet the quality demands of the paper manufactured for the Xerox Corporation. When Albert joined Buckman Laboratories in 1971, he was first assigned to Ohio and Western Pennsylvania as a Sales Representative. Later he was made Regional Sales Manager for the northeastern section of the United States and held this position for a number of years. In 1992, he became Buckmans Corporate Accounts Manager in the Pulp and Paper industry for corporate contacts for manufacturing, research and development and purchasing functions. His title upon retirement was Assistant to the President of Buckman Laboratories, Inc., where his duties encompassed the management of all sales and marketing events for the paper industry, representing Buckman at various industry forums and marketing events. Alberts strong ties to the pulp and paper industry include his charter membership on the PIMA (Paper Industry Management Association) Purchasing and Affiliates Committee, membership on the PIMA Annual Meeting Planning Committee, and for many years, he was the Publicity Chairman for the Northeast Division of PIMA. He also served as a member of the PIMA Division Service Committee. In addition to his PIMA activities, he was Chairman of the Membership Committee and a member of the Facilities Committee of the Miami University Paper Science and Engineering Foundation. He was a long-standing member of the Open House Committee of the University of Maine Pulp and Paper Foundation. Alberts National TAPPI (Technical Association of Pulp and Paper Industry) involvement began in 1964, and he was active in several local sections, including New England, Virginia, Empire State, Maine-New Hampshire and Metropolitan. His tenure there included eight years as an officer of the Microbiological and Microbial Technology Committee and he completed a six-year term as an officer of the Research and Development Division. He supported a range of activities to support and promote education, especially as it related to the pulp and paper industry, including serving on the Board of Directors of the Syracuse Pulp and Paper Foundation, Board of Directors of the Miami University Paper Science and Engineering Foundation, and Chairman of the Open House Committee of the University of Main Pulp and Paper Foundation. Albert retired from Buckman in 2010 and moved back to Woolwich. He was a dedicated member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Brunswick and served on the Town of Woolwich Planning Board in the 1980s. He served as the president of the Williams Family Reunion for many years. He enjoyed traveling abroad, including journeys to Australia, Thailand, New Zealand, China, Greece, France, Brazil, Mexico and Germany. He particularly enjoyed many trips to Portugal where he immersed himself in the culture of the country and developed lasting relationships. He had a passion for entertaining and dining out and provided an insiders advice to countless friends and co-workers on the best or most interesting dining locations in whatever city they happened to be traveling to. He enjoyed his long tenure in Memphis but always desired to return to Maine, especially his beloved mid-coast area where friends and family were always welcome to visit. He also enjoyed meeting new friends and a good conversation. He is survived by his longtime companion, Albano S. Matos of Woolwich, two sons, Albert A. Moore and his longtime partner Lisa Marie Sherry and Daniel D. Moore and his significant other Maureen Renner, two sisters, Juliet Malone of Springboro, OH, and Virginia MacDonald of Hull, MA, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. He is predeceased by his former wife, Faith."
