[19872] Lois' obituary offers: "When she was 13, mom's older brother introduced her to a handsome young man named Edwin Curtis Daniel. Mom and dad married on December 18, 1940. She lost the love of her life a little over one month ago December 15, 2004, after almost 64 years of marriage. They just couldn't be parted for long. For many years, mom was a secretary at Southeast High School. However, her greatest career was that of devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She truly loved her family. Lois was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Curt; her parents; Bill and Mary Hunter; and four siblings, Bill Hunter, Marilyn Shiplet, Midge Nay and Ralph Hunter. Mom leaves to cherish her precious memory; her daughter, Sharon Shaw and husband Dell of Tuttle; son, Ed Daniel, Jr. of Warr Acres; and son, Don Daniel and wife Carolyn of OKC. Grandma also leaves five grandchildren, Carrie Rodgers, Eric Shaw, Kevin Daniel, Greg Shaw, Jeremy Daniel and five great grandchildren, Jeffrey Shaw, Allyson Shaw, Emily Daniel, Bailey Daniel and Mia Shaw."

[50994] "Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine], 15 July 2022": "Beals - Regina Peabody Beal, age 83, passed away July 7, 2022, in an Auburn hospice home, surrounded by her family. Regina was born April 17, 1939, on Beals Island, the second of five children of Arlene and Clyde Peabody Sr. Over the past several years, Regina overcame numerous health setbacks with love and determination to stay well and be by her husband, Merle's, side. In death, she is reunited with Merle, her beloved soulmate, who passed away just a week after their 65th wedding anniversary in March. Regina's and Merle's love story began as high school sweethearts, they married March 9, 1957, and their dedicated commitment lasted a lifetime. The two attended school together as young children on the island, but it was not love at first sight. Upon finding an old grade school photo, Regina laughingly recalled that she was unhappily forced to stand beside a grinning Merle Beal. Chuckling, Regina pointed out her sour expression and crossed arms that reflected how she felt about Merle way back when. Later, she cropped that cute photo to display in their home for some laughs over the years. Together Regina and Merle raised three children in their Beals Island home overlooking Moosabec Reach. The pair were never far apart, whether completing home and garden projects, taking long drives together, or enjoying leisure time in their lobsterboat, the Silver Dollar. Boating often took them to Regina's 'Happy Place,' just off the Long Sand Beach at Roque Island, or sometimes further away to the annual Winter Harbor Boat Races and beyond, where many cherished memories were made with dear friends and family. Regina's children recall their Mom's creativity, cleverness, and loving kindness, as she made their house a home where special occasions and holidays were celebrated and laughter was shared. A life-long collector, Regina's home was full of items she found interesting or beautiful, ranging from cast iron trivets to Carnival glassware and Friendly Village dishes. Outside the home, for about 7 years, Regina worked as a Health Technician for the WIC program, where she enjoyed seeing the children and their progress over the months of visits. Regina learned to knit and sew at a young age, taught by her great- grandmother in Alley's Bay, where she was raised. She became an extremely talented seamstress, whose skill was evident in the elaborate wedding dresses, gowns, and beautiful quilts she made. Not one to sit idle, her hands were also often busy with her latest craft project. It's doubtful there is a craft Regina could not do well, even after her eyesight failed. Family members are fortunate to have many heirlooms she created to remember her by. As someone who enjoyed socializing, Regina made many friends at Bingo and through boating. Many of these relationships lasted a lifetime. Recently, she looked forward to making more friends at the assisted living home in Machias, where she chose to reside. She worked her special decorating touches on the room there, making it remarkably cozy and homey. Before settling in at the facility, Regina was fortunate to visit her eldest son and family in Pennsylvania. She enjoyed a wonderful time with them, met with close friends, and enthusiastically perused as many new thrift stores as possible during her stay - a pastime she got pleasure from, never knowing what deals and treasures she might find. We are all grateful that this happy experience was possible in what would be her last weeks. Regina was predeceased by her parents; sister, Gwendolyn Smith; son-in- law, Charles Gale; brothers-in-law, Paul and Elliott Beal; sisters-in-law, Frances and Alverda; and a nephew, Lindell Beal. Surviving Regina are her children, Wayne Beal and wife, Stephanie; Norita Gale and boyfriend, Peter Butler; Travis Beal and wife, Glenda; grandchildren, Jonathan Beal and wife, Diana; Lorina and husband, Jon Look; Ryan Beal and wife, Sarah; Kelton Beal and girlfriend, Holly O'Neal; Kasden Beal and girlfriend, Kate Whitney; Zachary Beal; Ben Beal and wife, Cherlyn; great-grandchildren, Jamie Monroe and Sharlee Look, Averie and Addisyn Beal, Isabelle Beal, and Nora Beal. In addition Regina is survived by her brothers, Velton Peabody; Vernon Peabody and wife, Lill; and Clyde Peabody Jr.; as well as many half siblings; brother-in-law, Stan Beal; sister-in-law, Danita Beal; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends."
