Vonalee was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Eugene Huckins. A loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother (Nana), aunt, and great-grandmother, Vonalee's greatest joy came from being surrounded by her family. She had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel welcomed and special, and her legacy of compassion will endure in the hearts of all who knew her. Her love for animals was profound; she dedicated much of her life to rescuing and caring for numerous cats and dogs, with her cherished cat, Bosie, by her side until the end. Vonalee's home in Milbridge was her sanctuary, but her heart held a special place for her camp on Bo Bear Island. Summers spent across Pigeon Hill Bay at "Whatchagimme" were filled with joy as she played cards, watched the lobster boats, and savored in the salty sea breeze. She eagerly anticipated hosting 'Happy Hours' for friends and enjoying her favorite wine surrounded by loved ones. Her vibrant presence will forever be remembered on Bo Bear Island."
