Frederick graduated from Harvard University in 1926 and was a partner in Robert Winthrop & Co., New York City. He m. (1) 23 June 1927 Jane Hamilton Brady (b. 14 Jan 1906, d. 3 Sept 1958) with whom he had (all b. in New York City) Frederick S. Moseley, Jr. (b. 4 May 1928, m. Elizabeth Hall Perkins), James Brady Moseley (b. 22 May 1931, m. 1st Joan Dillon, who divorced James and m. Prince Charles of Luxemburg; James m. 2nd Patricia Little) and Ailsa M. Moseley (b. 23 Aug 1935, m. Harden W. Crawford Ill).
Frederick's summer estate on Islesboro (Island) was informally called by the family the Dark Harbor house. At 117 Jetty Road, prominently sited on a 4± acre scenic knoll and surrounded by a multitude of gardens as well as water on two sides, the 'cottage' is a stunning example of Colonial Revival architecture. Designed by Fred Savage and built in 1885/86, the commanding historic 'cottage' features 196 feet of waterfront to the west on Ames Cove, including a gravel beach and a six-kayak storage rack with custom launch system providing access to excellent kayaking in the picturesque Gilkey Harbor. Overlooking the iconic Dark Harbor to the north, only 200 feet off its southern edge, the residence offers a close-up view of the harbor and further out, the open water of Penobscot Bay and North Haven to the east. Islesboro is located three miles off the coast in Maine's Penobscot Bay.

Most expensive home listed in Maine this year was built on Islesboro in 1918. The Grace Estate, a historic cottage in Islesboro built for the artist daughter of W.R. Grace's founder, is for sale for close to $9.8 million, making it the highest-priced home to be listed in Maine so far in 2023. Louise Grace, one of 12 children of shipping magnate and W.R. Grace founder William Russell Grace, built a house on Islesboro in 1918, following the trend of 'rusticators' at the time that constructed grand residences where they could vacation away from the heat and bustle of New York summers. The stucco home is now one of the islands landmark summer cottages. It has eight bedrooms and 11 bathrooms, and is for sale at almost $9.8 million. That is the highest price for properties listed in Maine this year. One home in Bar Harbor tops that at $11.2 million, but it has been on the market since July 2022. Known as the Grace Estate, it sits on 8.8 acres in the Keller Point area with views of Camden Hills and Seal Harbor. The primary bedroom has two bathrooms, while each of the seven guest bedrooms has its own bath. The property, located at the end of a private peninsula, includes a stone guest house abutting the 3,570 feet of shorefront. That guest house was inspired by the seaside cottages that Louise Grace admired when she visited Italy, according to the real estate company's blog about the home. The current owners, who have updated the home, reconstructed a saltwater swimming pool and added a paddle tennis court. It also has a chicken coop, storage barn and a boathouse."
