This was the second "creation" of this earldom, originally bestowed on Hugh de Lacey in 1205 but claimed by the crown on Hugh's death in 1226. Ulster is the northern part of Ireland, the name from the Gaelic Uladh and the Norse ending "ster". Walter married: (1) Maud, daughter of Hugh de Lacey, Earl of Ulster, and (2) Avelina FitzJohn (who died about 05-20-1274). His mother (and wife of his father) is from "Ancestral Roots..." She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gordon B. Henry on June 9, 2003; granddaughter, Alicia Alexander; and a sister."
