She was born June It 1922 in Beals, daughter of the late Kenneth and Ina (Alley) Beal. Arlene attended Beals schools and was employed as a sardine packer at several canneries including William Underwood and R.B. & C.G. Stevens, Jonesport, and L. Ray Packing Co., Milbridge. She and her first husband Clyde Peabody were employed in ship construction at Bath Iron Works during the early part of World War II. After the war they owned and operated a grocery store in the Alleys Bay district of Beals and for several years Arlene worked as a waitress in Rockport, Mass. She was a member of Beals Community of Christ and Beals Historical Society. Arlene is survived by three sons, Velton Peabody of Independence, Mo., Vernon Peabody and his wife Lillian of Feeding Hills, Mass. and Clyde Peabody, Jr. of Beals, two daughters, Regina Beal and husband Merle Beal of Beals and Gwen Smith of Lees Summit, Mo.; 18 grandchildren, Wayne and Travis Beal, Norita Gale, Glen Seefeldt, Kenneth Peabody, Lorena Leach, Kevin Zheng, Vernon Peabody, Jr., Dana Peabody, Amy Anderson, Jason Blackmore, Virginia King, Stephen Blackmore, Aaron, Charles, Brian, Dixon and Sue Smith; 38 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Olive and her husband Alvin Leon Beal of Beals; a special friend, Harry Walden of Milbridge; numerous other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents and two husbands."

He and Mrs. Strobeck. the former Josie Williams. came to South Paris In 1925 from Winthrop, Mass. after he had retired as conductor for the Boston, Revere Branch and Lynn Railroad. He was born June 22. 1876 in Udevella, Sweden, son of Franz and Emma Olleson Strobeck. He came to this country when a young boy and attended schools In Boston. After his marriage the couple moved to Winthrop. Mass., while he was employed with the railroad company. After moving to this town, Mr. Strobeck was employed for a number of years with the Mason Manufacturing Co. and later was employed at the Paris Manufacturing Co. until he retired several years ago. In 1957 he and Mrs. Strobeck observed their 50th wedding anniversary. He was a member of the Mount Mica Lodge, IOOF, and the Maine Three-Quarter Century Club. He is survived by his widow; one son. Frank N. Strobeck, South Paris, one grandchild and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Sunday at 21 Main St.. South Paris The Rev. Kenneth V. Gray, pastor of the First Congregational Church, will officiate. Entombment will be at the Riverside receiving vault.
