[25893] Virginia Horler offers: "Thomas was the firstborn and the first son of Bryant Morton and Thankful (Parker) Morton after their marriage at Yarmouth, MA of Cape Cod on 27 November 1727 by J. P. Peter Thacher. In McClellan's History of Gorham, ME, Thomas Morton son of Bryant Morton and Thankful Parker, is listed as a Private, doing duty with a 6-man guard, placed to guard the new Fort at Standish (then Pearstown) Maine in 1755. Later on he served with the Revolutionary Army in 1777 when it marched to Peekskill, NY on Christmas Day. Thomas Morton may have left Gorham after 1763 as his name does not appear on the Gorham list of Taxpayers in 1772. However he does appear on the Pensioner's List in 1782. Thomas' children were born from 1753 to 1773. In 1775 Thomas and David Morton of Gorham were listed as members of the militia. (Source: McLellan, Hugh D., History of Gorham, Maine, 1980). Resident of Pearstown, now Standish, Maine."
