K. Edward Lay states that Clement "Came to Phila on Ship Mortonhouse on 28 Aug 1728 with his 2 brothers: Peter and Frederick." The 1767 tax list for Windsor Twp., Berks Co., PA shows "Clementz Dunkelberger, 100 acres, 2 horses, 3 cattle, 3 sheep" (PA Archives, 3rd Series, v XVIII, p 45). His will (written in Feb 1762) was probated 8 April 1782 in Berks Co. Lay offers: "Via Dunkelbergs in America from History of Northumberland County: 'Clemens/Clement/Clementz was baptized in Solingen, Germany, on June 3, 1705. On August 24, 1728, Clemens, then 23 years old, arrived in America with his brothers, Peter, Frederick , and Abraham, and probably his father, mother, and sisters on the ship Mortonhouse. Palatines were on this ship. Clemens signed his own name on the ship roster. On January 4, 1734, Clement applied for a warrant on 86 plus acres in Windsor Twp., Berks Co., PA. In 1735 Clement was taxed on 100acres of land in the warranties of Philadelphia. In 1764 he, along with Frederick Dunkelberger and Catherine Hauer attended the Dunkel's or Moselem church. In 1765, Clement was included in a list of fo reigners naturalized by the Supreme Court at Philadelphia. He took the required oath on September 15, 1765. In 1768, on the propietary return of Windsor Twp., Clement had 100 acres, 2 horses, 3 cattle, and for that paid a tax of one pound. . . . When Clement arrived in America, he carried with him a Martin Luther New Testament which he declared was to be passed down in the family to each firstborn son [it is currently in Lansing, Michigan]. . . . No burial place has ever been located for Clement or Anna Maria. It was common practice to bury on the family land. One can only list time of death by court records.' From 'Historical and Biographical Annals of Berks County,' p. 1706: 'The Dunkelberger family had its early home in Wurtemberg, Germany, whence came Clement (or Clementz), Daniel and John. They sailed from Rheinfels, on the English ship 'Molhouse,' landing at Philadelphia Aug. 28, 1728, and located a little north of what is now Hamburg, in Berks county. Clement Dunkelberger immediately paid tax to the English crown. When he died in 1782, his home was in Windsor township. His will made Feb . 12, 1776, was probated April 8, 1782, and is on record in Will Book B, page 38. At the time the will was made his wife Anna Maria was still living. Their children were: Clemens, who obtained the plantation, Catharine, m. to Andrew Winiger; Mrs . John Deck; John; Frederick; Christopher; Elizabeth, m. to Michael Deck; Philip; Sevila; Magdalena and Dorotha. It is also said that Clementz Dunkelberger had a son Daniel, but if so, his name does not appear among those mentioned in the will.'" [22332] Known as "The Rich." This family is from the unverified Web site (in 2003) at http://www.mostyn.com/Genealogy/Cards/WC20/WC20_361.HTM which reports that Adalberto II and Bertha of Lorraine had Lambert of Spoleto, Margrave of Tuscany, and Gui, Margrave of Tuscany. In 2007 http://fmg.ac/Projects/MedLands offers: "Adalberto (-[10/19] Sep 915, bur Lucca Cathedral). The primary source which confirms his parentage has not so far been identified, although the 'Gesta regum Francorum' confirms that he was the brother of Bonifazio when it names 'Adalbertus fraterque eius Bonifacius, Hildibrandus quoque et Gerhardus' as the 'primores itaque marchenses qui fuerunt Italici regis' in 894. He succeeded his father in [884/89] as Aadalberto II Conte e Duca di Lucca Marchese of Tuscany. He supported Guido Duke of Spoleto after his coronation as King of Italy in 889, recognised Emperor Lambert, but subsequently supported Berengario Marchese di Friulia. The 'Gesta regum Francorum' names 'Adalbertus fraterque eius Bonifacius, Hildibrandus quoque et Gerhardus' as the 'primores itaque marchenses qui fuerunt Italici regis' in 894. The 'Annales Fuldenses' record the same names in 894. He helped Louis King of Provence in his election as emperor. The epitaph of 'Adelberti ducis' records his death 'Kal Sep'. m ([895/98]) as her second husband, Berta of Lotharingia, widow of Theotbald [Thibaut] Comte dArles, illegitimate daughter of Lothaire II King of Lotharingia & his mistress Waldrada --- ([863]-8 Mar 925, bur Lucca, Santa Maria). 'Berte' is named mother of 'Hugo rex' in the latter's donation to Cluny for the souls of his parents dated 8 Mar 934. The epitaph of 'Comitissæ…Bertha' specifies that she was 'uxor Adalberti Ducis Italiæ…regalis generic…filia Lotharii' and records her death in 925. She was regent of Tuscany after the death of her husband in 915. Liudprand names 'Berta matre regis Hugonis', specifying that she was previously married to Adalbert, when recording her death."
