He was born April 18, 1954 in Fort Leavenworth Army Hospital, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas to John and Jean Dalzell McVicar of Mansfield and was graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 1972.
Robert received a BA in Philosophy and Religion from Ohio Northern University in 1976, his Master of Divinity in Theology from Lexington Theological Seminary in 1979 and his Doctor of Ministry degree from Lexington Theological Seminary in 1989. He was currently the Director of Church Relations and Historic Bethany for Bethany College. He held several District and Regional offices which include serving on the current Commission on Ministry, Vice Moderator of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in West Virginia. He also served as the director of the West Virginia CYF Summer Conference, President of the District two Ministerial Association, President of the Northwest Ohio Disciples Ministerial Association, Member of the Ohio Regional Christian Education Commission, Member of the Ohio Regional Youth Commission, and Ohio District one and two Youth Advisor. He was pastor of the First Christian Church in Parkersburg from 1993-1996, Pastor of the Parma Christian Church in Parma, Ohio from 1987-1993, Pastor of the First Christian Church in Fostoria, Ohio from 1979-1987, Student Pastor of Cropper Christian Church in Cropper, KY from 1978-1979, Student Youth Minister of the First Christian Church in Corbin, KY and Youth Minister at the Ada Church of Christ from 1973-1974.
He is survived by his wife Connie C. McVicar; his parents; a stepdaughter Mindy Purcell of Columbus; a stepson Clark Purcell of Columbus; two brothers and a sister-in-law Jon Malcolm and Julie McVicar of Orion Lake, Michigan and Richard L. McVicar of Columbus."

Seiler, 91, a guest in the Masonic Home, Elizabethtown, and a former resident of Shamokin died yesterday morning at 10:35 in the Masonic Home Hospital. He had been hospitalized five weeks. Born in Brier Creek, October 12. 1878. Mr. Seller was a son of the late Daniel G. and Jemima (Weiksel) Seiler. Mr. Seiler came to Shamokin in 1885 and first worked for his father. Later he became a partner with his brothers and finally owner of D. G. Seiler Sons, wholesale fruit and produce firm. He was last employed as a custodian at Market Street National Bank and retired in 1967. He entered the Masonic Home, May 31, 1968. The late Shamokin man was married in September, 1902, in Lancaster, to the former Sarah F. Dorwart who died August 1 1968. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Shamokin Lodge of Masons, the Commandery, Rajah Temple Mystic Shrine, Reading, and Williamsport Consistory. Survivors include a son, Richard, Shamokin, two grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren."
