[36699] This person is from the unverified Leslie Hall's tree in Ancestry.com in 2014 which states Alfred m. (2) 30 April 1914 in Friedens Reformed Church, Hegins, Clara A. Hoch. "West Schuylkill Herald [Tower City, Pennsylvania], 14 July 1933," p. 1: "Alfred Schwalm, a highly respected citizen of Hegins, passed away at his late home on Sunday evening. He was born May 6, 1857, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Schwalm, of Hubley Township. He received his early education in the schools of Hubley Township, and when he attained the age of 18 years was elected a teach er of the Township. He taught in the Hubley and Hegins Township schools for a period of 25 years. He also served as justice of the peace of East Hegins Township, and later became a notary public. Both of these positions he held for 36 years. During the Wilson administration he served as postmaster. He was twice married. Mrs. Alberta Schwalm, nee Fisher, his first wife, died in 1913. To this union two daughters and one son were born. In 1914 he married Mrs. Clara Reed Hoffman Hock, who survives. Two daughters, Mrs. Sara Koppenhaver, of Pillow, and Mrs. Annie Reeder, of Shir-menstown, Pa., and two brothers, Joseph, who conducts a general store at Pine Grove and Jackson, of Valley View, also survive. Fratrnally he was a member of the P. O. S. of A. and the I. O. O. F. of Hegins. His funeral was held from his late home in Hegins, Thursday morning. H. R. Buffington, of Valley View, was the funeral director in charge. Mr. Schwalm for a number of years was the Hegins correspondent to the Herald and he also wrote news of that vicinity for other newspapers."
