He was invested as a Knight Bachelor (K.B.) on 17 January 1477/78. He wrote the book 'He translated many of Froissart's works into English.' He was Marshal of the Earl of Surrey's army in Scotland in 1513. He fought in the capture of Thérouenne in 1513. He held the office of Chamberlain in 1514, to Princess Mary, wife of King Louis XII. He held the office of Chancellor of the Exchequer between 1516 and 1527. He was at the field of the Cloth of Gold in 1520.1,2 He was Deputy of the town and marches of Calais in 1520. He and Elizabeth Bacon were associated. He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography. On his death, his Barony by writ lay dormant until it was re-established in 1720."
