Steven Day posted on Genforum in 2008:
"It has been a year since my article on the Origins of Richard Cocke appeared in the Magazine of Virginia Genealogy [Vol. 45, No. 3 - August 2007]. My agreement with the publishers allows me to post the article one year after the original publication. I have posted the article on my web page:
http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/d/a/y/Steven-Day-Mukilteo/index.html
"Over a year of research went into finding Richard Cocke's origins in England. This began with a legal document showing that Thomas Cocke (son of Richard Cocke) identified himself as from 'Pick-Thorn Farm in the County of Henrico' (reported by a James Southall in 1935). I then researched the Cockes in Pickthorn, England. I found many Cockes in baptismal records, marriage records, burial records, last wills and testaments, legal documents, and church tithe records. Many of these documents were written in Old English, so I had to learn to read this. (Many of the letters do not resemble our modern alphabet.)
"I found five people named Richard Cocke and showed that four of these were not the Richard Cocke who came to Virginia. The fifth Richard Cocke was the same Richard Cocke who came to Virginia. It is interesting to note that Richard named many of his children after his relatives in England: Richard, Thomas, William, John, and Elizabeth."

[6125] Sir Robert was of Berwain and Norton in one account and of Chalrton, Somersetshire in another ["Ancestral Roots..." (1992), p. 161]. http://musgravemanor.homestead.com/Mussegros.html states: "Robert de Musegros, of Berwain and Norton, Knight of King Henry III. He was Keeper of Savernake Forest, May 4, 1252. He held the Manors of Brynham, Cherlton, and Norton. He died January 29, 1253 or 1254 (Ref.: Harleain Society, "Knights of Edward I, p.230). (Note: Mussegros is a canton of Fleurigny-sur-Andelle in the arrondissement of Les Andelys. The name is presumed to have been derived from Musgrave or Mewsgrave, 'the keeper of the king's hawks, or the king's equerry.' Roger de Mucelgros, who is said to have been at Senlac, was a tenant-in-chief in Herefordshire in 1086 (Domesday), where he gave his name to Lude-Muchgros. His descendants spread to many parts of England and in the 13th century the family held estates in Somerset, Dorset, Gloucester, and Hereford. Charlton Musgrove in Somerset is named from it, hence the baronets Musgrove. (Ref: Crispin & Macary, 'Falaise Rolls')."
