She is now at peace with the Lord. She was born on Oct. 31, 1922, in Hodgdon. She always affectionately called herself a 'witch.' She was looking forward to being reunited with her husband Merrill S. Taylor; parents Chester and Della (Richardson) Nickerson; and siblings Ralph Nickerson, Vivian Gehan, Carrie Appleby, Claude Nickerson, Hilda Beers and Avis Martelle. She always went by the name Marion (never cared for the name Agnes). Marion always had a smile and was always positive. Her life was not always easy, but she made sure her children never wanted anything, at the expense of doing without. Not sure how she ever managed to always work a full-time job, manage the household, and raise three not so perfect boys. Marion worked as a registered nurse in Maine, California and Michigan up until her well-deserved retirement."
[4489] "The Des Moines Register, 20 June 1946," p. 17: "Services for Eva B. Paullin, 67, of 903 Fourth st., will be at 1:30 p. m. today at Lillys funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale cemetery. Mrs. Paullin died Tuesday at Broadlawns hospital after a year's illness of heart disease. Mrs. Paullin was born in Illinois Nov. 23, 1878. She was a member of the Fairview Methodist church. She is survived by her husband, Lewis; four sons, Ward of Dexter, Irwin of Booneville, Walter of Waukee, and Eldon of Des Moines; and two daughters. Myrtle Paullin, Des Moines, and Mrs. Eva Daulton, Dexter. Two brothers, Lee Palmer, De Soto, and Samuel Palmer, Des Moines, and two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Finney and Mrs. Melissa Finney, both of Des Moines, also survive." Eva is daughter of Henry Palmer and Eva Harris according to her marriage record. A Henry Palmer m. an Eve Harris 31 Dec 1869 in Morgan Co., OH. Ancestry.com offers: "Palmer Name Meaning - English: from Middle English, Old French palmer, paumer (from palme, paume 'palm tree', Latin palma), a nickname for someone who had been on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land. Such pilgrims generally brought back a palm branch as proof that they had actually made the journey, but there was a vigorous trade in false souvenirs, and the term also came to be applied to a cleric who sold indulgences."
