[45193] This child is not verified but is from https://www.geni.com/people/Rev-Moses-Ames. https://www.werelate.org/wiki/Person:Moses_Ames_(3) offers: "Noted abolitionist, nearly elected to the Maine legislature, beloved Freewill Baptist preacher, a well known man in his day. Rev. Moses Ames, a well-known Freewill Baptist minister (b. Sullivan, Hancock, ME, 8 Dec 1812, d. S. Dover, Penobscot, ME 30 Sep 1860), was almost certainly the son of Joseph. This provides circumstantial evidence that Joseph Ames lived near Sullivan, Hancock, ME in 1812. I note that James K Ames first wife and daughter are buried in the same cemetery (S. Dover,ME) with Moses Ames. I know that Moses was in Bradford from 1840 census, and from a biography of him the following: "Ames, Rev. Moses, died in South Dover, Me.,Sept. 30, 1860, in his 48th year. He was born in Sullivan, Hancock County, Me., Dec. 8, 1812. At the age of 4, the family moved to Bradford, where after twelve years his parents were reclaimed, and he had the conviction strongly forced home upon his heart that he was a sinner. In the spring of 1834, through a protracted meeting, he and others were converted, and in July following he began preaching. He had been baptized by Rev. Nathaniel Harvey, uniting with the church in Bradford. The destitute churches in the Sebec Q. M. were objects of his labor. He was licensed by the Quarterly Meeting September, 1838, and labored in Garland and Danville. Sept. 22, 1839, he was ordained. In May 1838,he began his ministry at Corinth. In 1840 he saw from his preaching a great revival at Garland, and in a short time baptized over twenty. His work in Bradford was blessed. In 1841 he saw revivals both in the Wellington and in the Springfield Q. Ms. In October he was present at the eleventh General Conference at Topsham. He moved his family to Corinth in December, where for some months he had preached half the time. In January 1842, in a revival at Hunting's Mills, in Corinth, twenty-three were added to the church. A revival attended him in Garland where he preached part of the time. During the summer he baptized there forty-six. and in 1845 moved there. He attended the thirteenth General Conference in Sutton, Vt., in October 1847, as a delegate from the Penobscot Y. M. The next year he moved to Veazie for a pastorate of two years. Here a church was organized. In November 1850, he began his labors with the Dover and Foxcroft church, where his strength failed him. During the last year of his ministry seventy were added to the church. He was a man highly gifted in natural talent; he possessed good business ability. His devotion to the ministry cost him his health. He was a gifted speaker and drew multitudes after him. When his health failed through consumption, he retired to his quiet home at South Dover."---taken from Freewill Baptist Cyclopedia, pub. 1889 by G.A. Burgess."

Edward Southworth was born circa 1590 in England to Thomas Southworth and Rosamond Lister. His grandfather, Sir John Southworth and his parents, Thomas Southworth and Rosamond Lister were living in London when he was born (Weis, 127-28; Weis in Ancestral Roots . . . ). He died about 1621 at London, county Middlesex; his wife was a widow in July 1623 (Tracy Crocker, MagnaCharta). Edward Southworth of Sturton le Steeple, silk worker. He married Alice Carpenter who was born Dec 1593 of Wrington, Someset, England. They were married May 28, 1613 in Leyden, Holland. He was shown on the rolls of a congregation of Puritans at Leyden, Holland during a period 1610 to 1622. His future wife Alice was a witness at sister Julia Ann's wedding on 23 July 1612. The widowed Alice Carpenter Southworth, went to Plymouth aboard the Anne in July 1623, her two sons following after 1627. (NEHGR, XIV, 1860, 195). Alice thus survived Edward Southworth and died 29 March 1670 in Plymouth, Massachusetts as the wife of Governor William Bradford.
Edward Southworth is listed as number seven of seven sons of Thomas Southworth and Rosamond Lister. His brother Thomas Southworth had a residence in Leyden, Holland in 1613 (Melton/Sharp).
Commentary by this submitter: The birth place of Edward Southworth is under challenge. A Magna Charta site (http://www. magnacharta.com, Tracy Crocker 2007) states he was born about 1590 at London, England in county Middlesex. A book by Walter Lee Sheppards (see sources) is probably the source. An earlier Magna Charta application also had him born in London. The family of Edward Southworth on the Melton/Sharp web page asserts, "In 1602, Edward and his brothers, including Thomas, were still in the neighborhood of Samlesbury, all listed as foreign burgesses with their father in the Preston (Lancashire) Guild Roll of that year. They were all mentioned by their grandfather, Sir John Southworth, in his will dated September 17, 1593. Sir John died November 3 the same year." The Tracy Crocker data on Magna Charta.com states Edward Southworth of Sturton Le Steeple was a silk worker (citing a letter from Robert Cushman to Edward Southworth at Heneage House, London, 17 August 1620 (Bradford's history of Plymouth Plintation, Boston, 1901, p. 86). [5701] {Carr P. Collins, Jr., "Royal Ancestors...," p. 78, gives this line and states Hugh m. ca. 1286 Isabel Beauchamp who d. in May,1306.} Find A Grave Memorial 16441434 offers: "He was one of the few barons to remain loyal to Edward, however, his corruption forced him being exiled along with his son, Hugh, the younger in 1321. Edward recalled them to England a year later, an action which enraged the queen, Isabella, the more so when Despenser was created Earl of Winchester. She rebelled against the king and with Roger Mortimer, led a rebellion against her husband Edward. They captured both Despensers - first the elder, later the younger. Queen Isabella interceded for Hugh, the elder, but his enemies, notably, Roger Mortimer and Henry, Earl of Lancaster, insisted they face trial and execution. The elder Despenser was hanged immediately in his armour at Bristol on October 27, 1326. He was then beheaded and his body cut into pieces for the dogs. His head was sent for display to Winchester, which had supported the king." Cf. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hugh_le_Despenser,_Earl_of_Winchester.
