[8681] See "Briner Family History," Myers and Clouse (Harrisburg, PA: 1984), pp. 48, 304. Edgar and Minnie had Pearl Mabel Bower (Nov. 15, 1906) who m. (1) April 2, 1932 George L. Ickes and (2) _____ Planer. Pearl and her second husband r. Reading, PA (1962). "The Perry County Democrat [Bloomfield, PA], 13 May 1936," p. 3: "Edgar T. Bower, 68, one of Bloomfield's most highly respected citizens, was fatally injured at noon on Monday when he fell from a load of corn fodder. He had gone to his lot on West High street and was hauling the fodder in a one-horse wagon, standing up on the load, when his horse evidently gave a jump and he was thrown to the ground. Mrs. Melvin Hartzell saw him fall and called for help and several men came to his assistance and he was taken to his home by L. H. Boyer, of Meck's Corner, who was passing in his automobile. He was conscious. Dr. Catharine Johnston was summoned and found that no bones were broken, but that he was suffering from internal injuries. Dr. L. A. Carl, of Newport, was also called in consultation. Mr. Bower's condition appeared somewhat improved yesterday morning, but later he began to sink and at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon his spirit took its flight. Edgar T. Bower was a son of Abraham and Mary Ann (Dunkleberger) Bower, of near Warm Springs, Spring township, and was born April 2, 1868. He attended the public schools and the Gettysburg Academy and a Harrisburg Business College and later was employed in clerical positions in Boston and Philadelphia. On the 28th of January, 1904, he married Miss Minnie Billman, who survives with one daughter, Pearl, (Mrs. George L. Ickes) of this place. One sister, Mrs. Alice B. Snyder, of this borough, is also living, the last of a family of six children. Mr. Bower was a man of high character, an active member of the Lutheran Church, being at the time of his death an elder of the church, and had filled many of the church offices. He was an honest, conscientious christian gentleman and had the respect and esteem of all who knew him. He will be sadly missed in the home, church and community, and his bereaved ones have the sympathy of all. Brief funeral services will be held at the house at 2 o'clock, Friday afternoon, after which the funeral cortege will proceed to Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, Spring township, where the funeral sermon will be preached by Rev. D. L. Rhoads, pastor of the Bloomfield Lutheran Church, and burial will be in the adjoining cemetery."
