He resided with his mother, Mrs. Bessie Wardwell, who is critically ill at the Mercy Hospital in Elwood. Mr. Wardwell was born June 4, 1902, in Tipton County and was the son of Edward and Bessie Wardwell. He was married July 3, 1921, to Gertrude Bagley, who died Dec. 13, 1943. He was a member of the Harmony Christian Church. Surviving in addition to the mother are eight of his nine children: three sons, Howard E. Wardwell, Anderson; Charles C. Wardwell, Marion, and Robert E. Wardwell, Alexandria; five daughters, Mrs. Charlotte Brown, Anderson; Mrs. Donna Colbert, Marion; Mrs, Dora Nell Fields, Goshen; Miss Jane Wardwell, Anderson, and Miss Cora Belle Wardwell, at home, and nine grandchildren."
