For many years she was secretary of the American Red Cross chapter here and for about 23 years worked as a substitute in the local post office. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Helen Willis of Eliot; two grandsons, 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews." Nellie is daughter of Thomas F. Staples (1844-1925) & Clara Ellen Spinney (1847-1882).
