Roosevelt. Miss Pawling had been a resident of Phoenix for 58 years. She taught at Phoenix Union High School and retired in 1922. She lived at 636 N. 3rd Ave. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, belonged to the Altar Guild at that church, and also taught Sunday school there. Officiating at the services will be the Very Rev. George Rhys Selway. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park. . . . Surviving Miss Pawling is a niece, Mrs. Dura Majewski of Williams."

[22395] Conroy (see notes for son Thomas) reports John was of Patmore - Albury, Bedfordshire. See Waters (referenced for Thomas). A typescript of unknown origin owned by William Scruggs, Jr. in 2009 states "John died at Patmore Hall in 1592 leaving issue by his first wife Mary, daughter of Edmond Burton of Nottinghamshire of at least one son, Edward, who married Penelope Smythe, daughter of John Smythe of Beson; Edward and Penelope Scruggs were the parents of Penelope, Smithe, John, Edward, Francis (?), Susan, evelyn, Elizabeth and Anne. Of these John the oldest first married Elizabeth, daughter of Thomas Bancroft of Norfolk Co., and they had issue of one daughter, Margaret. John Scruggs' second wife was Elizabeth, daughter of Sit William Lytton, whom he married about 1650. John had further issue . . ."
