Some time after Robert I Duke of Normandy and Herleva had William I (the Conqueror), Herluin became married to Herleva. This may have been a marriage of convenience to provide for Herleva. [14908] "Maine Families in 1790, Vol. 4," Joseph Crook Anderson II and Louis Ware Thurston, editors (Camden, ME: Picton Press, 1994), p. 315 gives her baptismal date and place and states she d.16 Jan 1813 in Scotland, Brant Co., ON. See notes for her sister, Sarah. Julie Helen Otto offered on the NEHGS Enews Vol. 11, # 28: "TRYPHENA (f): This name (Greek luxurious) and TRYPHOSA, of the same general meaning, both derive from a passage in which St. Paul wrote his friends at Rome, 'Salute Tryphena and Tryphosa, who labour in the Lord' (Romans 16:12). Because the names appear in the same verse and are so similar, they were often used in tandem, though not necessarily always for twins. Of the two names, TRYPHENA (often just recognizable in forms such as PHENEY) is far the more popular."
