He lived in Jacksonville, East Machias, Washington, Maine, United States in 1940 and Stamford, Fairfield, Connecticut, United States for about 1 years. He registered for military service in 1942. He died on 25 October 2022, in Jonesboro, Washington, Maine, United States, at the age of 100, and was buried in Looks Point Cemetery, Washington, Maine, United States." "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 27 October 2022: "Jonesboro - Vincent Leroy Dowling died October 25, 2022, at age 100, following a brief illness. He was born in East Machias, to parents Frank S. and Jessie 0. (Harmon) Dowling, September 21, 1922. He was predeceased by his wife, Evelyn Anne (Look) Dowling, in 2021. He leaves four children: Marilyn Dowling (and partner Alan Brooks), Steve Dowling (and wife Shelly), Phil Dowling (and wife Hilary Nolan), Gary Dowling (and wife Sue); eight grandchildren: Kelly, Kimberly, Zara, Tessa, Luke, Kevin, Eric, and Brian; four great-grandchildren: Katie, Ben, Jacob and Taylor; a niece, Meredith Anson and family, and a nephew, Mark Mawhinney and family. Vincent graduated from Washington Academy, Washington State Normal School and the University of Maine. He also attended the State University of Iowa and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He had a Junior High Teaching Certificate and a BS degree in Electrical Engineering. He served four years in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, including one year in the Pacific Theater. Vincent and Evelyn worked in Connecticut for 38 years, living in Stamford, Torrington, Waterford, Old Lyme, Weston and Glastonbury, where Vincent was employed by the local power companies, including as Regional Superintendent for 21 years. He retired in 1985 and they returned to Jonesboro, Maine where they became active in town affairs and the Jonesboro Union Church. He was Church Treasurer for 20 years and served as chairman of the building committee for the Community Center. Vincent was a member of the Warren #2 Masonic Lodge in East Machias. The family thanks all the folks at Marshall Healthcare for their compassionate care of Vincent and Evelyn in their final years. Funeral services will be held in the Jonesboro Union Church at a date yet to be set, followed by interment at the Look Family Cemetery on Looks Point."
