He was born in Jacksonville, Fla., Oct. 3, 1899, the son of Rev Albert and Edith Haven Whitcombe. He had been a resident of Dixon most of his life, and was manager of the Home Lumber Co. Mr. Whitcombe was also a member of the St. Luke's Episcopal Church and the Dixon Post American Legion. Mr. Whitcombe was united In marriage to Esther Foxley at Grand Detour on Sept. 12, 1933. A half-sister preceded him in death. He is survived by his widow; one son, Tom, of Northern Illinois University; one daughter, Mrs. Steven (Nancy) Maroulis of Glencoe; a sister, Mrs. Dorothy Clark of Seattle; one half-brother, Edward Whitcombe of Rolling Meadows; and one grandson. Requiem Mass will be celebrated at St. Luke's Episcopal Church at 11 a.m. Thursday with the Very Rev. Vernon L. S. Jones, officiating. Burial will be in Grand Detour Cemetery."

He was a member Mahanoy Lodge IOOF 551, Herndon Lodge F & AM 702, Harrisburg Consistory, and St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Red Cross.
