[20308] "Dixon Evenng News [Dixon, IL], 11 May 1965," p. 8: "Bert Whitcombe, 65, 522 E. Chamberlin St., died at his home Tuesday mormng, following a short illness. He was born in Jacksonville, Fla., Oct. 3, 1899, the son of Rev Albert and Edith Haven Whitcombe. He had been a resident of Dixon most of his life, and was manager of the Home Lumber Co. Mr. Whitcombe was also a member of the St. Luke's Episcopal Church and the Dixon Post American Legion. Mr. Whitcombe was united In marriage to Esther Foxley at Grand Detour on Sept. 12, 1933. A half-sister preceded him in death. He is survived by his widow; one son, Tom, of Northern Illinois University; one daughter, Mrs. Steven (Nancy) Maroulis of Glencoe; a sister, Mrs. Dorothy Clark of Seattle; one half-brother, Edward Whitcombe of Rolling Meadows; and one grandson. Requiem Mass will be celebrated at St. Luke's Episcopal Church at 11 a.m. Thursday with the Very Rev. Vernon L. S. Jones, officiating. Burial will be in Grand Detour Cemetery."

Mr. Zartman had been in fairly good health until the time of his attack at his home yesterday. Time of death was about 12:30 p.m. He had just returned home Thursday evening from a two week motor trip. A son of Jay C. Zaman, Red Cross, and the late Vesta Erdman Zartman, he was born at Dornsife RD, Aug 19, 1907. A resident of Herndon for four years, he formerlyresided at Red Cross. He was a member Mahanoy Lodge IOOF 551, Herndon Lodge F & AM 702, Harrisburg Consistory, and St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Red Cross. Survivors include his father; his widow, the former , Mabel Smeltz;- one son and two daughters. Gene, Sunbury RD1; Ellen wife of Elbert Lenker, Wilmington, and Oleta, wife of G. Edward Shissler, Stillwater, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren; two brothers, J. Fred Zartman arid Clarence W. Zartman, both of Herndon; three sisters, Mrs. Earl Williams, Valley View; Mrs. Clarence Snyder, Klingerstown; Mrs. Mary Barnhart, of Millersburg."
