[22758] Piers is son of Ernaud de Gavestone (a prominent Gascon knight) who m. 1283 Clarmunda de Louvigny. The men are mentioned on p. 108 of "A History of the Plantagenets, Vol III, The Three Edwards," Thomas B Costain, 1958, Doubleday & Co., which reports that Piers was taken into King Edward's household as a squire. See also http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piers_Gaveston,_1st_Earl_of_Cornwall which states "There is also some evidence that Gaveston might have fathered another, illegitimate daughter; one contemporary document refers to an 'Amie filie Petri de Gaveston'. This Amie was a chamberlain of Edward III's wife, Queen Philippa, and later married John Driby, a yeoman of the royal family."
