Wardwell, 61, in general Practice here for over 30 years, was stricken with a heart attack Saturday morning while making a professional call in Sedgwick and died almost instantly. He was born in this town and had been in practice here since finishing college, held in the highest regard for devotion to duty, his kindness and many fine qualities. He had served the town for some years as town treasurer. He is survived by his wife and two sons, Albert and Elliott of this town; a half-brother Mark Smith of Bangor; also two grand-children, Millard and Marilyn Wardwell. He was a member of Rising Star lodge F. and A. M. of Penobscot, Hancock R. A. chapter of Bucksport and the O. E. S."

He was born in Cherryfield Aug. 22, 1900, the son of Ernest L. and Carrie (Babidge) Willey He worked as a butcher for many years then worked in the Ellsworth Laundry until retirement. He was well-known in the Bangor area and had many friends here. He was a resident of the Bangor House for 17 years being one of the first and eldest residents there. He is survived by one son, Dr. Rev. Marvin D. Willey of Long Beach. Calif.; three daughters, Jacqueline Mace of Amherst, Gloria Fields of Gardiner and Beverly Jones of Hermon who had tended him over the years; 23 grandchildren 27 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild. He was predeceased by his wife, Doris E. (Spencer) Willey in 1933; a daughter, Shirley Goulette of Augusta; five brothers, Ernest, Bernard, Sanford, Lawrence and Reginald; three sisters, Ina Kenny, Marcia LaFurley McGown and Lucy Stock. He will be greatly missed by his granddaughter, Sylvia Perry of Hermon, who had been his trusted friend and confidant."
