[20841] "Ezekiel Cheever and Some of His Descendants" in NEHGR Vol. 38 (April, 1884), pp. 170ff., gives detailed information concerning Thomas and his descendants. This article states he graduated at Harvard College in 1677, was admitted to membership of First Church, Boston, MA in July, 1680, too the oath of freeman 13 Oct 1680, began to preach at Malden 14 Feb 1679 and was ordained there 27 July 1681 and organized the congregation at Rumney March where he served as first pastor. This article also provides his two wives and his children. Thomas is an ancestor of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt - see "Ancestors of American Presidents, 2009 Edition," Gary Boyd Roberts (Boston: NEHGS, 2009), p. 124.
[46654] "News-Journal [Mansfield, Ohio], 30 October 1939," p. 12: "Ashland - Mrs. Mary Susan Dove, 84, died Sunday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Carrie Jane Shearer, West Liberty street. She was grandmother to 15 and great grandmother to 22. Other survivors are a son, Charles Dove of near Jeromesville; and three daughters, Mrs. Shearer, Mrs. Myrtle Frances Rupple, Richland, Kan., and Mrs. Eva May Buckingham of Nankin. Mrs. Dove was a member of the Jeromesville Methodist church. Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Tuesday at the Shearer home, with Rev. B. F. Martin, Congregational minister, officiating. Burial will be in the Eckley cemetery."

He was a lifelong resident of Danforth, and was the son of Stephen and Epla Sprague Foster. During the earlier years of his life he held positions of trust in the community, serving on the board of selectmen as superintendent of schools. He retained a great interest in national and local political affairs, and was well Informed on many subjects. He was life-long Democrat. He was a charter member of Danforth Lodge, I. O. O.F., and was the surviving member of the group. He leaaves his wife, Mrs. Josephine Lindsay Foster, and four sons and daughters, Harold and Stephen Foster of Danforth; Mrs. Mont Drew of Selden; four grandchildren; a brother, Dwight M. Foster of Belmont. Mass.; also a nephew and niece, Dr. Stephen M. Foster and Mrs. Lester Graves of Belmont, Mass."
