[21462] This family is from Sylvia Conner Wardwell. Thatcher is seventh of Job's ten children. The paternal ancestry of Thatcher is from "Colonial Families," Vol. 7, posted on Genealogy.com. See notes for his wife, Hannah. Thatcher was part owner of several schooners and was Captain and sole owner of the schooner "Liberty", built in 1790. His residence in North Castine was known as Avery's Inn from 1790 to 1820 - it had been built by Capt. John Perkins (who solds it to Thatcher for 150 pounds in 1783).- and it became the place where official notices were posted and town meetings we held. He seved the town, then Penobscot, as selectman, assessor, moderator, town treasurer, bondsman, tythingman, fenceviewer, field driver, surveyor of boards, shingles and lumber, sealer of weights and measures, and on town committees. See "Genealogical record of the Dedham branch of the Avery family in America," Jane Greenough Avery Carter (Mrs), Susie Perry Holmes (Press of Avery & Doten, 1893), for Avery family genealogy.
