(2) Sir Piers de Geneville (he d. by 06-08-1292, Baron Geneville of Trim).} Find A Grave memorial 148794805 offers: "Alice de Lusignan was also known as Alice of Angoulême. She was the daughter of Hugh XI de Lusignan, Count of La Marche, Count of Angoulême (1221 - 1250) and Yolande de Dreux, suo jure Countess of Penthrièvre, suo jure Countess of Porhoet, suo jure Dame de la Fère-en-Tardenois, de Chailly, and de Longjumeau (1236 - 1290). She married Gilbert "the red" de Clare, 6th Earl of Gloucester, 7th Earl of Hertford, 9th Lord of Clare, 3rd Lord of Glamorgan (1243 - 1295) on 02 February 1263 at Clare Castle, Suffolk, England, but her marriage to Lord de Clare was later annulled on 16 May 1285 and found to be invalid. They had two daughters and no sons. According to historical accounts, she was said to be beautiful and flirtatious and quickly became a friend and ally to Prince Edward I who was later crowned King of England. When civil war broke out in 1264 and the Barons rose up against the King who were led by Simon de Montfort, 6th Earl of Leicester. Alice's Husband, Lord de Clare, suppored Lord de Montfort's cause against the King. Prince Edward I, who was commander of the Royalist Army, quickly went to war against the traitors who had betrayed his father. Prince Edward's troops later captured Lord de Clare's Tonebridge Castle which is also where Lord de Clare's wife, Alice of Angoulême, was currently residing. Prince Edward then took Alice prisoner. Being that Alice and Prince Edward were close she was released shortly after imprisonment. At the Battle of Lewes on 14 May 1264 King Henry's forces were defeated by those led by Lord de Montfort and Lord de Clare. After the victory, Gilbert de Clare and his brother Thomas de Clare were both knighted. Simon de Montfort became the de facto ruler of England. On 20 October 1264 the Pope excommunicated Gilbert de Clare. A month later, he fell out with Lord de Montfort and transferred his allegiance to Prince Edward I. After the Battle of Evesham, in which Simon de Montfort was killed, Lord de Clare was richly rewarded for his support of Prince Edward and was granted the castle and title of Abergavenny and the castle of Brecknock. He became the most powerful lord in the Welsh Marches. Alice was the grandmother of Isabella MacDuff, Countess of Buchan, who placed the crown of Scotland upon the head of Robert the Bruce at Scone."

[55654] Mary's obituary: "Vassalboro - Mary Ellen (French) Wentzel, 86, died peacefully at her Vassalboro home and went to be with the Lord on June 24, 2018. She was born in Waterville on Feb. 21, 1932, the last of six children of Eunice Myrtle (Pollard) French and Thomas Cowan French, who founded French's Market Gardens of South China in 1937. Mary attended elementary school in South China and graduated from South China's Erskine Academy in the class of 1950, while also working on the family farm. In 1947, she met her future husband, Philip Martin Wentzel of Augusta, at a dance at South China's Lakeview Pavilion, prior to his tour of duty in Allied-occupied Japan with the Army of the United States. From 1950-1952, she studied at the School of Practical Art (Art Institute of Boston) and was employed by Liberty Mutual Insurance. On Sept. 13, 1952, Mary married Philip Wentzel. They remained married for over 65 years until his death on Feb. 6, 2018. They resided first in Augusta, then Weeks Mills and South China, and lastly Vassalboro. Together they had three sons. Mary's many interests included showing and riding horses, sewing, home renovation and decorating - converting old houses into cherished family homes - and always supporting family and friends. Throughout her life she spent many hours volunteering at soup kitchens and churches, tending to the needy and creating a sense of community. In later years, she followed her spiritual calling to study the scriptures and lead Bible study groups both at home and at a variety of venues in central Maine. One of the highlights of Mary's life was a month-long around-the-world tour in 1970, on which she visited numerous religious shrines. With the great stamina and dedication instilled by her farm upbringing, Mary grew a large vegetable garden every year, froze or preserved the harvest, and provided her family with countless delicious home-cooked meals. We will never forget her boundless energy and the strength of her faith and character. Mary was predeceased by her loving husband, Philip; both of her parents; and her siblings, Thomas J. 'Buster' French, Edward W. 'Jim' French, Eunice E. Bernier and husband, Odilon A. 'Pete' Bernier, Francis F. French and wife, Iona (Stein) (French) Weinstein, and Charlotte L. Page, and also by Peter O. Bernier, son of Eunice and Odilon. She is survived by her three sons: Robert F. Wentzel and wife, Valerie Hunter, of Portland, Ore., Thomas M. Wentzel and wife, Cynthia Meier, of Tucson, Ariz., and John P. Wentzel of Vassalboro; former daughter-in-law, Nancy (Favor) (Wentzel) Phinney of Santa Barbara, Calif.; three grandsons: Robert and Nancy's Lt. Col. (USAF) Jonathan F. and wife, Claire Wentzel, Maj. (USAF) James B. and wife, Kimberly Wentzel, and Robert and Valerie's Joshua H. Wentzel; and four great-grandchildren: Jon and Claire's Alice R. and Bruce C., and James and Kim's Kaden M. and Audrey E. She is also dearly remembered by her sisters-and brothers-in-law, Anna Beth (Packard) (French) Rynders of Waterville, Paul H. Page of South China, Lola (Wentzel) (Houston) Harris of Berkeley, Calif., Arthur Clark of Belgrade, and by her many nieces and nephews and their families." She is daughter of Thomas Cowan French (18981976) & Eunice Myrtle Pollard (b. in 1897; m. 18 November 1918 in Skowhegan, Somerset Co., ME).

Balthasar Romberger (the younger) was born in New Holland, Earl Township, Lancaster County, and died in Mifflin Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. He was a son of Balthasar Romberger (the elder). This name runs through the family a bit, and is often spelled Balthasar, Baltasar, Baltser, Baltzer and other variations.
This younger Balthasar Romberger married Elizabeth Sierer/Seacrer on December 25, 1802 Dauphin County. They had 11 children. My next direct descendant is their son Daniel Romberger, who, while he did not live a long life, managed to have three children with his wife Eva Romberger (later Hoffman) before his death at 23, to continue our line.
There was yet one more Balthasar to come- Balthasar the youngest -the youngest in this uninterrupted Balthasar string. He was the son of this Balthasar, and grandson of Balthasar (the elder). The youngest was Balthasar W Romberger 1825-1905.
Years ago I copied some online bio info on this second Balthasar, and because I just sought info and was not yet attuned to keeping source data, I do not recall where I got it, and hope to rediscover it. Still, this is what it said:
"Baltzer Jr. received a German education in subscription school in Lebanon Co. He was a farmer and blacksmith. Later in life he came to Lykens Valley and bought six hundred acres of land, for a part of which he paid $10 per acre; the land was all in timber. With the assistance of his family he cleared this land and erected upon it the necessary buildings, made fences, planted an orchard and engaged in stock raising."
"Baltzer Romberger, Jr., was married, in Lebanon, Pa., to Elizabeth Seacrer, born in Lebanon, daughter of Conrad Seacrer, a farmer of Lebanon county. They had eleven children: Mary, deceased, wife of Daniel Matter, farmer; Catherine, deceased, wife of Philip Matter; George and Daniel, deceased; Bengohan; Hannah, wife of Jacob woodside, Berrysburg, Pa.; Rebecca, deceased, wife of Jere Horner; David, deceased; Baltizer, farmer; Susan, deceased, wife of John Bordner; and Elizabeth, deceased, wife of Jacob Hoy. Mr. And Mrs. Romberger were prominent and active members of the Lutheran church. Mr. Romberger was deacon and elder. His politics were Democratic. He died in Mifflin township in 1838; his wife died in the same place in 1860, at the home of her son Bengohan, who watched over her in her declining years. She was exemplary in all the relations of life, and especially was she wise and faithful in the training of her family."
Note that he had two boys who died fairly young- Daniel and George. Daniel was of my line, and is the fellow mentioned above who did not live long but managed to have three kids, and his one son Gilbert the saddler would name his first two boys with each of these first names. There was George the lawyer, and "Professor" Daniel, my great grandpa, the schoolmaster, who eventually became a late-blooming successful entrepreneur.
