[17692] Following a career with the railroad, he became a farmer. He and Hettie were active members in the Reformed (now UCC) Church (he was a trustee). His ancestry is from F. D. Shade (see notes for Andreas Shade). "The Perry County Times, 27 March 1941," p. 12: "Newport, Mar. 25 - Francis Marion Shade, of Middle Ridge, died suddenly Thursday morning, March 20, 1941, of a heart attack at his home. He was 76 years old and was the son of Joseph and Marion Postlethwaite Shade and was born in Mifflin county. Surviving are his wife who was Miss Hettie B. Arnold; two sons, Harold, of Middle Ridge, and Clyde Shade, of Trout Creek, Mont. ; four grandchildren and one great grandchild. Mr. Shade was a member of the Markelsville Reformed Church. Funeral services were held this morning at 10:30 o'clock at the Myers funeral home in Newport, with the Rev. Roy Moorhead, pastor at Markelsville, officiating. Burial was made in the Newport cemetery."
