Sir Henry Courtenay, 1st and last Marquess of Exeter succeeded to the title of 2nd Earl of Devon [E., 1511] on 9 June 1511. He was invested as a Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1520. He was invested as a Knight, Order of the Garter (K.G.) in 1521. He held the office of Warden of the Stannaries in 1523. He held the office of High Steward of the Duchy of Cornwall in 1523. He held the office of Constable of Windsor Castle in 1525.2 He was created 1st Marquess of Exeter [England] on 18 June 1525. He held the office of Lieutenant of the Order of the GArter in 1528. He held the office of Seneschal of the Duchy of Cornwall in June 1528. In 1536 he helped to put down the Pilgramage of Grace. All of his honours were forfeited."
