A note in Ancestry.com in 2014 offers: "John was licensed to preach the gospel by 1809 and was formally ordained in 1819. / In 1837 Jeremiah and Eliza Farmer and two young children moved to Big Creek [Township, Cass County, Missouri]. [Jeremiah] began preaching in 1838 and continued to do so until his death in 1881 in nearby Pleasant Hill.... In 1839, Jeremiah's parents, John and Abigail Farmer moved from Meigs County, Tennessee to join him. / John's second son, William H. Farmer married Dorcas Robinson in 1839.
