His World War II draft registration states he is employed by the B. & O. Railroad in Indianapolis. "The Indianapolis News [Indianapolis, Indiana], 13 April 1959," p. 7: "Services for Earl G. Bumgardner, 75, 3603 Washington Blvd., retired Kingan traffic manager, will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow in Flanner & Buchanan Fall Creek Mortuary, with entombment in Washington Park Mausoleum. He died yesterday in St Vincent's Hospital. Born at Decatur, Ill., Mr. Bumgardner had lived in Indianapolis since 1931. He quit high school to go to work as railroad messenger boy. In 1945, he retired as freight agent of the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad here, after 37 years' service. Since 1945 he worked for Kingan's as traffic manager. He attended Tabernacle Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Indianapolis Traffic Club and Retired Railroadmen's Association. Survivors are the widow, Cora E. Bumgardner; a daughter, Mrs. Richard E. McDonald, Indianapolis; a son, John R. Bumgardner, Alamogordo, N.M., two sisters and two brothers."

[58028] "The Ellswsorth American [Elllsworth, Maine]," 19 November 2024: "Surry - Donald 'Donnie' Charles Fowler, 82, passed away peacefully at home on Nov. 15, 2024, with his wife and daughter by his side. He was born in Bar Harbor, Maine, on Sept. 23, 1942, the son of Charles and Lurlene (Black) Fowler. Donnie graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1961. During his high school years, he was an accomplished basketball and track athlete. In 1961 he was named to the Eastern Maine All-Tournament Basketball Team. Donnie also excelled at 100 and 220 dashes, the pole vault and javelin. It was once quoted that he was one of the best all-around track men ever to come out of Ellsworth High School. Some said he had 'springs' in his steps. . . . "
