[4434] "The Muscatine Journal [Muscatine, Iowa], 22 July 1996," p. 5: "Donald 'Don' R. Bailey, 75, formerly of Columbus Junction, died Friday, July 19, 1996 at, his home in Webb City, Mo. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, at the Letts Cemetery, Letts. The body has been cremated. There is no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home, where memorials may be left for the St. Johns Hospital Hospice Program. Mr. Bailey was born Jan. 8, 1921, in Muscatine, to William G. and Nellie Lucille Paullins Bailey. He married Alta Mandler on Sept. 1, 1946, in Nashua. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He had been the director of research and development for the Cardinal Scale Company, Webb City, until his retirement in 1986. He was a member of the Glanslammers Bridge Club and the Genealogical Society, Joplin, Mo. He was of the Methodist faith. Survivors include his wife, Alta; a son, Kent Bailey, DDS, of Gladstone, Mo.; a daughter, Kristen Bailey of Prairie Village, Kan.; and a brother, Paul Bailey of Columbus Junction. He was preceded in death by his parents."
