[55882] The unverified file GQBM-ZWQ in familysearch.org offers: "When Barbara A Atwood was born on 18 October 1925, in Maine, United States, her father, Raymond Ashley Atwood, was 26 and her mother, Edith Estelle Arey, was 20. She had at least 1 daughter with Mr. Walter Thomas. She lived in Verona Island, Hancock, Maine, United States in 1940 and Bucksport, Lincoln, Massachusetts Bay Colony, British Colonial America in 1946. She died on 22 January 2019, in Maine, United States, at the age of 93." Their daughter is Linda Lee Thomas (1946-2022). Her obituary: "Bucksport Barbara A. Thomas, 93, passed into the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ on January 22, 2019. She was born October 18, 1925 in Bangor, Maine, to Raymond and Edith (Arey) Atwood. Barbara worked for the Bucksport School Department for 17 years. She had a special interest in the Bucksport Animal Shelter where she was a volunteer for 8 years. Her devotion to those special little ones was remarkable. She was a lover of nature and all its wonders. She loved feeding the birds and the deer that would appear on her property. Her greatest pleasure was her many pets that she had over her lifetime and her beautiful flower gardens. Jeremy, a precious cocker spaniel, was her constant companion for many years. She loved going for walks with Jeremy on the school trails and the Silver Lake trail across from her home. Barbara, and her husband, Wally (Walter) built their own home on Central Street. For 45 years after Wallys passing in 1973, she maintained the home and property on her own. She dedicated many hours trimming the evergreens in front of her home (with hand scissors!), maintaining her rock-wall garden and her flower beds and mowing her lawn herself even at the age of 93. She was predeceased by her husband, Wally Thomas, her parents, her sisters: Shirley Grigsby, Ruth Hutchins, Edith Arnold and Yvonne Downes and a brother, Herbert Atwood as well as several precious friends that went before her. She will be greatly missed by her two devoted daughters, Linda Thomas and Sandra Thomas; other survivors include, her sister Joanne Bridges; brothers Raymond Atwood and wife, Thiry; Ernest Atwood, Fred Atwood and wife Betsy, Wilford Atwood and wife Martha, and sister-in-law, Irene Atwood. Also, several nieces, nephews and cousins."

From http://www.allen-bailey.com/jsbailey/d215.htm#P5035 - "Winslow, Edward (1595-1655), American colonist, one of the Pilgrims, born in Droitwich, Worcestershire, England. He went to America in 1620 on the Mayflower and was a founder of Plymouth Colony, in the present-day state of Massachusetts. In 1621 he negotiated a treaty of friendship with the local Wampanoag people, and he was one of the first settlers to explore the New England coast and establish trading relations with the Native American tribes of that area. Between 1624 and 1646 he served on the governor's council of Plymouth Colony, and he was elected governor in 1633, 1636, and 1644. In 1635, while visiting England as an agent for the colony, he was imprisoned for several months by the archbishop of Canterbury, William Laud, on charges that he had committed offenses against the Anglican church. Winslow returned to England during the English Revolution, and after the triumph of the Puritan cause, he served the Commonwealth government of the Lord Protector, Oliver Cromwell. In 1655 Cromwell sent him on a campaign against the Spanish West Indies; he died during the return trip to England. Among his writings are several works valued by historians of the New England colonies, notably Good Newes from New England (1625), Hypocrisie Unmasked (1646), and Glorious Progress of the Gospel Among the Indians (1649)." "Saints and Strangers," George F. Willison (NY: Reynal and Hitchcock, 1945) provides an especially detailed and interesting account of the Pilgrims in England, Holland and New England.
