Jacob m. Elizabeth Souders (b. in NJ, d. 1855 in PA).
A file in Ancestry.com offers these comments: "The newspaper clipping below, and the fact that he was listed in a tax list in 1846, but not found in the 1850 census places his birth year between 1749 and 1754. Three out of 5 children report his birthplace as NJ. (Michael Hull, HFA Journal Summer 2003; Henry Foreman, 'History of the Little Cove'.)
"The combined results of the 1810, 1820, 1830, 1840 Federal Censuses give a birth year between 1761 and 1765 for Jacob.
"1775-1777 A Jacob Holl of Boskenridge (Basking Ridge) appears in the list of customers in Jacob Vosseller's store at Pluckemin (Plunkemin), Somerset Co., NJ. (Somerset County Historical Quarterly, v.2, n.4, October, 1913).
"1795 twin sons Abraham and Henry were b. "near Hagerstown, Washington Co., MD" (HFA Journal v. 7 n. 1).
"1798 Jacob Hull on 1798 Direct Tax list, Warren Twp., Franklin Co., PA.
"1805 Gailor land sale, 173 acres on Indian Springs road and Mason Dixon line - Jacob Hull named in list of purchasers. (Foreman, 'History of Little Cove').
"1846 Tax list - Jacob Hull listed as 'owner', Jacob Hull and John Hull listed as 'tenants'. (Foreman, 'History of Little Cove').
"The following news clipping suggest that Jacob Hull (the father of Jacob, Peter, George and Michael) was born about 1750, if he died before 1850: 'Jacob Hull of Illinois visiting his nephews Geo W & HS Hull of this place. There is something remarkable in longevity of this family, four brothers & one sister, viz; Peter Hull of MD age 82, George Hull of Van Wert, father of GW & HS Hull, age 80, Michael Hull of Seneca age 74 & their sister Mrs Lib Osborn age 64(daughter of Geo Hull). Their grandfather died at age 108 & grandmother age 112, their father age 96 & their mother age 88. The old gentleman enjoys full use of senses & bids fair to live a half score more years yet' (Clipping probably c 1880 - ?? Fulton Co, Ohio??? , in HFA Journal Summer 2003, by Michael Hull.)"

[49704] "The Portsmouth Herald [Porstmouth, NH], 15 April 1931" p. 11: "CAPT. SARGENT, MASTER MARINER, DIES AT AGE OF 78. Commanded Steamships Between New York and Porto Rico for Many Years. Last Work on S. S. Dorothy Bradford." [Excerpts from the announcement of his death:] . . . died at the Portsmouth hospital on Tuesday night as the result of a hip fracture sustained in a fall at his home three weeks ago. He was a native of Sedgwick, Me. and the son of Jasper N. and Abbie (Byard) Sargent. He followed the sea from early manhood and was for several years in command of steamships of the New York and Porto Rico Steamship Co. operating between New York and Porto Rico during which he became acquainted with many prominent people of this country, including the late President Theodore Roosevelt and his daughter, Mrs. Nicholas Longworth. Capt. Sargent retired 15 years earlier and moved from New York 'to this city.' He then went to work for the Cape Cod Steamship Company, assigned to command the steamship Dorothy Bradford running daily during the summer between Boston and Provincetown. Capt. Sargent was an "expert navigator" as a result of his experience commanding many of the leading sailing vessels along the coast. He was held in high esteem by every man who ever served in the crew of any ship of which had command. . . In 1873 Captain Sargent married Miss Hattie E. Forhan who survived him along with their daughter, Mrs. Albert Parker of this city; two grand-daughters, Frances Parker of Hartford, Conn. and Edith Parker of this city; one grandson, Lieut. Charles A. Parker, U. S. N. and one great-grandson; also three brothers, Benjamin and Fred Sargent, both of Sedgwick and Charles Sargent of Montana. He was a member of Eggemoggin Lodge, No. 128, A. F. & M. of Sedgwick. Services will be held at the Buckminster chapel, 7 Islington street, at three o'clock Friday afternoon. Friends invited. Capt.
