[3134] Hugh "was employed in the conquest of Ireland, and for his service there obtained from King Henry II, the whole county of Meath. He was subsequently constituted governor of Dublin, and justice of Ireland. But incurring the displeasure of his royal master by marrying without license the king of Connaught's dau., he was divested in 1181, of the custody of the metropolis. In four years afterwards he was murdered by one Malvo Miadaich, a mean person, in revenge for the severity with which he had treated the workmen employed by him in erecting the castle of Lurhedy." - Burke's "Dormant and Extinct Peerages," 1883, p. 310. He had two sons (Walter, his successor, and Hugh, constable of Ireland) and two daughters (Maud and Elayne, who m. Richard de Beaufo). Hugh succeeded his brother or father, Gilbert de Laci; Gilbert is son of Emme de Laci through who he inherited from her brother Hugh - this Hugh de Laci had inherited from his brother Walter -- their father Walter de Laci, was a Norman who came into England with his brother Ilbert at the Conquest. Carr P. Collins, Jr., "Royal Ancestors of Magna Charta Barons" (Dallas, 1959), p. 143, states Hugh m. as his second wife a daughter of Roderick O'Connor, 183rd Monarch of Ireland (d. 1198). Hugh's domain, Meath, encompassed 900,000 acres in Ireland, much more than presently in the county of this name. Hugh's formal titles included Lord Palatine of Meath, Lord Justice of Ireland and Earl of Ulster. See "Richard and John: Kings at War" (Cambridge, MA: Da Capo Press, 2007) , pp. 85-88. George m. in Albuquerque, NM Anna Minerva Traxler (b. in Allentown, Leigh Co., PA ). Find A Grave memorial 40211406 offers his obituary: "George A. Kaseman was born in Shamokin, PA, in 1868. Ill health forced him to abandon his studies at Bucknell University at Louisburg, PA and move to New Mexico where he became one of the most enterprising citizens in the development of the Territory. As a banker and businessman, he was employed in a variety of firms including: the Harvey eating houses, the Santa Fe Railroad Company in the general attorney's office at Albuquerque, the Bernalillo county as an accountant, the A. A. Grant enterprises, the fuel business in El Paso, Automatic Telephone Company, Albuquerque Lumber Company, In 1897 he helped organize the firm of W. H. Hahn & Company. In 1901 his interest in the sheep industry led him to organize the Las Animas Sheep Company. Mr. Kaseman built the first long-distance telephone line which extended from Albuquerque to Belen in 1902.
He also served in the office of chief deputy United Stated marshal at Albuquerque. In 1918, Mr.Kaseman was elected to the state senate. The same year he purchased the Dilco Mine property and the Morris Mine located a mile to the north. He combined the properties under the name of the Defiance Coal Company. When chlorination of water ended an outbreak of typhoid fever in his mining camp at Madrid, Senator Kaseman became interested in public health as evidenced by the Anna Kaseman Memorial Hospital. In 1924 when the State National Bank of Albuquerque failed, Mr. Kaseman bought the banks assets and started the Albuquerque National Trust & Savings Bank where he served as president. Mr. Kaseman was killed by the premature explosion of a nitroglycerin time bomb which a drilling crew was preparing to 'shoot' an oil well. The George A. Kaseman Memorial Scholarship at the University of New Mexico has been endowed in his honor."
