He died on August 27, 1678, in Southampton, New York, and was buried there. Elizabeth Wheeler was born in 1599 in Cranfield, Bedfordshire, England. She married Thomas Halsey in 1625 in England. They had five children during their marriage. She died in 1649 in Southampton, New York, at the age of 50, and was buried there."
[3663] W.H.Turton gives a speculative descent from Leofric I, Earl of Leicester, presumed g3grandfather of Leofwine - "The Plantagenet Ancestry" (Balt.:Gen.Pub.Co.,1968), p. 130. Leofwine was known as earldorman of the Hwiccas and in 1017 was Earl of Mercia. Another proposed ancestry shows Leofwine as son of Elfwina of Mercia (daughter of Edward I the Elder [ID1631] and Edgiva) and Edolf or Edulph (of Saxony?). Leofwine acceeded in 1017. Sylvanus and Emeline had 11 children, Phineas Manwarren II, Hiram Alexander, Harriet, Anna M, Sylvanus Rodney, Jr, Leonard B, Edwin Forrest, Delplina, Neriah, Iran, and Sarah W Norton.
