Cantlin, 11 South Jardin street, last surviving member of one of the town's pioneer families, died yesterday at the Greenview Nursing Home, Orwigsburg. A son of the late Thomas and Anna (Hurley) Cantlin, he was member of the staff of the Miners National Bank from the time of its origin until his retirement nine years ago as assist ant cashier. His brother, Dr. Frank H. Cantlin, with whom he resided, preceded him in death three years ago. Another brother, Thomas, was a former chief of police in town. A devout member of the Annunciation Church and its Holy Name Society, he was a charter member of the Shenandoah Council No. 618, Knights of Columbus, and prior to his illness served as Council treasurer for over 25 years. As a veteran member of the Phoenix Fire Company, he was very active in the affairs of the company as well as the Shenandoah Fire Department and Firemen's Relief Association, serving as treasurer of the Phoenix and an officer of the department and association for many years. He was also a member of the Six-County Firemen's Association and Pennsylvania Association of Firemen. His survivors include several nieces and nephews among whom are Thomas C. Cantlin, Harrisburg; Frank H. Cantlin, and Mrs. Agnes Levans, Shenandoah; Mrs. John F. Brennan, Philadelphia; Mrs. Frank Gallagher, Mahanoy City, and his sister-in-law, Mrs. Anne Louise Cantlin, Shenandoah."

[44588] "Monrovia News-Post [Monrovia, California], 11 June 1932," p. 2: "Allen Nye, 55 years of age, one of Monrovia's early pioneers, died suddenly last night from a heart attack at his home 1220 South Lifure street, Los Angeles. He was seized with an attack while sleeping and died almost instantly. Mr Nye, with his parents, came to Monrovia in 1887 and graduated from the Monrovia schools. After finishing school he opened a bicycle and motorcycle shop which later branched into the Myrtle Hardware store now operated by Wallace Hicks. Although having lived in Los Angeles for twenty years, he maintaaned acqnaintances with many of the city's early residents. For the past several years he has been associated with the Neptune Meter company as district representative in Southern California, Arizona and New Mexico. He leaves his widow and a step-son Dr. Bruce Pathe of Los Angeles, and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Roy Nye of Seattle, former Monrovia musician."
