Kirby, "The Earliest English Kings," p. 126: "Ine appears as a hard-headed, resilient leader in rigorous pursuit of his own interests. His kingdom had come some considerable way from the remote and backward region it had been at the beginning of the seventh century." Ina completed the reconquest of the kingdom, extending its frontiers to the west and defeating the Britons of Cornwall and the King of Sussex.
