Shorman Clark, 86, of 302 North Main, Greene, were held Wednesday, May 28, at the First Presbyterian Church in Greene with Pastor Paul Uzel officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Greene. ReidĀ¹s Funeral Chapel of Greene is in charge of arrangements. Myrtle Mae Heichel was born March 9, 1917, at rural Washburn, Black Hawk County, a daughter of Freace and Dagmar (Rasmussen) Heichel, and died Sunday, May 25, 2003, at the Liebe Care Center in Greene. She received her education in the Cedar Falls Public Schools and was united in marriage to George Shorman on September 30, 1934, in Princeton, MO. They made their home in Cedar Falls where they owned and operated a Texaco Service Station. In 1945 they moved to Greene where they purchased the Greene Cafe, which they operated until 1949, when they acquired Price's Grocery Store and made it into a restaurant and bar which was called Shorman's Place. In 1955 they purchased the Sportsman's Inn from Max Kent. Following Mr. Shorman's death on November 21, 1961, she continued to operate the business until 1964. On July 10, 1964, she was united in marriage to Wilson Eldon Clark at her home in Greene. They moved to Northern Wisconsin where they purchased the Chit Chat Resort in Birchwood which they operated until 1973 when they retired to a forty acre farm near Couderay, WI. In 1990 they returned to Greene. Following Mr. Clark's death on February 16, 1992, she continued to make her home in Greene until entering the Liebe Care Center on June 26, 2001. Myrtle will be remembered as a helpful, caring, and giving individual in her vocations as wife, mother, and business owner. Many will attest to those home cooked meals, desserts, and genuine hospitality to those she served. Her interests included deer hunting, fishing, gardening, and crafts. She also enjoyed bowling. Her family was very important to her, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Those thankful for having shared her life include her daughter whom she lovingly called her 'Doll'; Virginia (Stan) Shook of Greene; four grandchildren: Janelle (Jeffrey) Laube, Randal (Sheila) Shook all of Eau Claire, WI, Steven (Kimberly) Shook of Plymouth, MN, Linda Miner of New Brighton, MN; ten grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Jenna, Mikaelah, Benjamin, Sarah, Joseph, John, Ryan, Conor, and Lee; one brother Glade Heichel of Greene and one sister-in-law: Inez Heichel of Waterloo. She leaves to join her husbands, her parents, four brothers: Hershel, Freace "Pete", Russell, and John Heichel; four sisters: Gladys Morgan, Jane Rogers, Norma Gutknecht, and Mary Brown."
