Bright, 68, native of Ashland and brother of David Bright, of this city, died very suddenly at Wilmington, North Carolina, the victim of acute heart failure. Mr. Bright, well known to many local residents, had been located in the south for the past 25 years. He was walking along the street in the business section of the town, collapsed and was dead when a physician reached his side. He was employed as an auditor for the Atlantic Coast Railway company and is understood to have been on his way to his employment when he was fatally stricken. Surviving are his widow, a daughter and two brothers, David, of this city, and John, of Mt. Carmel. Burial was made at Wilmington."

"Raymond A. (Mert) Gotshall, age 78, of Bryan, Ohio, died early on Sunday, April 6, 2008, in his residence after a lengthy illness. A graduate of Farmer High School, Farmer, Ohio, Mr. Gotshall was a supervisor at Anderson-Vreeland , Bryan, Ohio, where he worked for 27 years. He also enjoyed bowling and traveling. Mr. Gotshall served the U.S. Army with the 101st Airborne. He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Bryan, Ohio.
"Raymond A. (Mert) Gotshall was born on September 9, 1929, in Bryan, Ohio, the son of William S. and Hazel (Garber) Gotshall. He married Barb Mann on September 1, 1950, in West Unity, Ohio, and she survives. In addition to his wife, Mr. Gotshall is survived by two sons, Mark A. Gotshall and Randy G. (Michelle) Gotshall, both of Bryan, Ohio, three grandchildren, Ryan W. (Melanie) Gotshall, Heath A. Gotshall and Kelly J. (David) Woodring, all of Bryan, Ohio, and two great-grandchildren, Chase William Gotshall and Gabrielle M. Woodring. Also surviving are two brothers, Cliff (Yvette) Gotshall and Robert E. Gotshall, and one sister, Donna (Keith) Stemen. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Lloyd, Pete and Francis (Runt) Gotshall, and two sisters, Bedie Meyers and Betty Welsh.
"Services for Raymond A. (Mert) Gotshall will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, Ohio, with Pastor Donald Leckrone officiating. Burial will follow in Shiffler Cemetery, Bryan, Ohio, with grave side military rites conducted by Bryan Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2489."

John Heichel, Cedar Falls, who was previously reported missing in action in Italy, was killed in action there Apr. 19, according to a war department telegram received Saturday by his wife, Evelyn Heichel, 722 ½ Fourth avenue, Cedar Falls. Private Heichel, who had been in service for a year, was serving with the mountain division. He had been overseas for about seven months. A son of Mr. and Mrs. F. C. Heichel, 711 Fourth avenue, Cedar Falls, he was born in Cedar Heights Oct. 15, 1920. He attended Cedar Falls schools and on May 4, 1940, married Evelyn Johnson at Cedar Falls.
Surviving besides his wife and parents are two sons, John Elmer, 4, Dennis four months; a daughter, Sharon May, 2; four brothers [?], Herschel Heichel, Dallas, Ore.; Russell Heichel, Cedar Falls; and Pete Heichel, Cedar Falls; and five sisters, Glade and Norma Heichel, both of Cedar Falls; Mrs. Glenn Brown, 214 Peoria street; and Mrs. c. A. Morgan, Mrs. George Shorman and Mrs. Don Rogers, all of Cedar Falls."
