[2772] The marriage date is probably incorrect - see date of birth of son, Samuel. Samuel and wife Molly (Mary) Gerrish are from George Colson, 18989 Sweet William Court, Sonoma, CA 95476, 9/91, who reports these children for them: Timothy, Gerrish, Samuel, John, Molly, Sarah, Lydia, Fanny, [son], James (?) and Moses (?). See D.H.Colson & S.D.Colson, "The Descendants of Cornelius Cursonwhit of Dover, N.H.", 1991, pp. 155ff - also see the notes for his son, Samuel. Samuel was an early settler of Cherryfield, ME (1774). [47185] "The Perry County Democrat [Bloomfield, Pennsylvania], 14 December 1927," p. 3: "On December 7th, Mr. Wilson Orris, of near Ickesburg, passed to his eternal home after a saintly life on earth. He had been a member of the Reformed Church from boyhood. During that time he filled several offices, had been an elder for many years and was an elder when he died. Since youth he had been a teacher in the Sunday School and was a very earnest worker in the Christian Endeavor Society. The congregation could always depend on his presence at the sanctuary on the Sabbath day, unless circumstances over which he had no control prevented his coming. In Mr. Orris' home-going the church has lost a faithful and devoted member. He was a son of Samuel and Elizabeth (Rice) Orris and was born January, 1855, at the old homestead. On the date of his death he was within a few weeks of being 73 years of age. He was married to Ellen Simonton, who preceded him to the spirit world a number of years ago. Thirteen children were born to this union. Seven of whom were girls and six boys. Two boys are dead. Those living are Florence (Mrs. Ray Powell), Mary (Mrs. Charles Reed), Matilda (Mrs. Edward Miller), Pearl (Mrs. Clark Adair), Charlotte (Mrs. Coran Fredericks), Mabel and Gladys Orris, Nevin Orris, of Harrisburg; Earl, Harry and Lee, of Ickesburg. Mr. Orris lived his life in this community. He was a farmer by occupation and at the recent county election was elected County Surveyor. His suffering for a number of weeks enlisted the sympathy of his neighbors and friends, who continue their sympathy with his family in their bereavement. Funeral services were held in the Reformed Church, Monday morning at 10 o'clock, conducted by his pastor, Rev. S. W. Beck. Interment at Saville."
