[46417] "The Oklahoma News [Oklahoma City, Oklahoma], 24 Nov 1936," p. 18: "Funeral services were conducted today at the Britton Funeal Home for Mrs. Sophia Hepler, '89er. Burial was in the Spencer Cemetery. Mrs. Hepler, 81 years old, died of a paralytic stroke yesterday in a city hospital. She had been ill for several months. Born in Indiana, Mrs. Hepler moved to Kansas after her marriage in 1883. The couple made the run in the 1889 Oklahoma Territory opening and homesteaded a farm near Spencer. In 1894 ill health forced Mr. Hepler to retire and move to the city. He died in 1909. Mrs. Hepler continued to live here until about 15 years ago when she moved to Britton to make her home with a daughter, Mrs. May Faughn. Surviving is another daughter, Mrs. Cora Pearl Bryant of Norman and five sons C. H., Mc and W. F., all of the city, G. R. of Britton and Ed Hepler of Long Beach Cal."
