She was born in Montgomery and moved to Athens in 1943 from Fremont, Ind. She formerly was a cook at Athens High School for six years, and was well known in the area for her skill in baking pies. She made pies for the Stone Inn restaurant and by special order for individuals and groups. She was an active member of the Athens United Methodist Church, where she served on the worship committee. She was a member and past vice president of the United Methodist Women, and was flower and bazaar chairman. Her husband, Homer Green, died in 1974. She is survived by a daughter, Elsie Mahoney of Englewood, Fla.; sons, Carl Green of Mendon, Jerry of Athens, and Daryl of Leonidas; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Pauline Whitmore of Battle Creek, Gertrude Myers of Angola, Ind., and Evelyn Reppert of Coldwater; and brothers, Glenn and Lester Gallaway, both of Battle Creek."

"The Times-Tribune [Scranton, PA], 14 November 2002," p. 22: "Walter A. Rayannic, Lake Winola, died Tuesday evening in Berwick Hospital. His wife of 44 years is the former Corinne Pontarollo. Born April 8, 1923, in Peckville, he was a 1944 graduate of Meshoppen High School and an Army Air Corps veteran of World War H, obtaining the rank of sergeant. He was the owner of the Lake View Market, Lake Winola, and a member of the Lake Winola Lions Club and Cottagers Association and the Tunkhannock Moose Lodge. Surviving are a brother, Michael, Tunkhannock; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Walter S. Rayannic; several brothers and sisters. The funeral will be Friday with services at 10 a.m. in the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home Inc., 73 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock, by the Rev. Duanne Gavitt, pastor, Church of the Nativity BVM, Tunkhannock. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Fairview Cemetery, Lake Winola."

"Lyens Register [Lykens, PA], 9 Januar 1969," p. 4: "John S. Reed, 88, of Klingerstown RD, died Friday at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Wiest. He had been in failing health for several years. Mr. Reed was a retired farmer and carpenter and a member of the Salem Lutheran Church, Klingerstown RD 1. He was also a member of the Gratz Fire Co. His wife, Vertie Geist Reed, died in 1959. Surviving are the following children: Flossie, wife of Harry Reiner, Dornsife RD; Clair Reed, Carlisle RD 2; Irene, wife of Clarence Weist, Klingerstown RD; Helen, wife of Charles Bamer, and Lila, wife of Leon Geist, both of Pitman; Violet, wife of Lear Troutman, Penbrook; Mrs. Margaret Enders, Millersburg; Ethel, wife of Robert Kahler of Spring Glen; 25 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Also surviving is a brother, James A. Reed of Klingerstown. Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon from Salem Lutheran Church, Klingerstown RD. Burial in the adjoining cemetery."
