Born Sept. 15, 1908 in Lemoyne, he was the son of the late Rev. Leo C. and Ida S. Loy Smiley and the widow of Mary Agnes Walsh Smiley. He was a 1972 graduate of the former Lemoyne High School. A World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, he was a retired cabinet maker for the former Fawber Furniture, Lemoyne. He was also a former superintendent of Rolling Green Memorial Park, Lower Allen Township. Mr. Smiley was a member of Cumberland and Perry counties' historical societies, Williams Grove Historical Steam Engine Association and American Legion Post 0419, Lemoyne. He is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth S. Gallaher of Friendsville, Md; four grandchildren; eight greatgrandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Parthemore Funeral Home, New Cumberland. Burial will be in Rolling Green Memorial Park." [26623] In 2007 http://fmg.ac/Projects/MedLands/AQUITAINE%20NOBILITY.htm offers: "His parentage is proved by the Gesta Ambaziensium which records that, after the death of 'Oldinus dominus Jalinniaci frater Elisabeth', 'Archembaudus de Borbonio filius Haimonis' confiscated the castle of Jaligny. Sire de Bourbon. m (before 25 Jan 1140) AGNES, daughter of --- (-after 1180). A notice dated [25 Jan] [1137/39] or 1140 concerning the foundation of the leprosery of La Madeleine near Souvigny refers to a donation of land by 'domni Archinbaudi Borbonensis et Agnetis comitissæ' sold property to the prior of Montet by charter dated to [22 Sep 1095/early Jan 1097]. According to Europäische Stammtafeln, the wife of Archambaud [VII] was Agnes de Maurienne, daughter of Humbert II 'le Renforcé' Comte de Maurienne et de Savoie & his wife Gisèle de Bourgogne [Comté]. No indication has yet been found to confirm this origin. However, it is surprising that Archambaud [VII] (who was a bachelor, and probably in his mid-thirties, at the time of his marriage) should have married a spinster who would at that time have been in her late thirties. The reference in the charter referred to above to 'Agnetis comitissæ' indicates that Agnes was of higher rank by birth than her husband."
