[13243] Jacob Brillhart of Shrewsbury Twp., York Co., PA wrote his will 7 Feb 1811 and it was proven 16 May 1881 showing wife Margaret and children Peter, David, Elizabeth and Samuel - executors were Peter and Samuel Brillhart. [Not the Jacob Brillhart who died in 1788, buried in Feigley's Cemetery, Springfield Twp., York Co., PA - Lois Kleinhenn Lanier (1/96) shows this as a child of Christian (1762-1811) and wife Anna (1761-1828), in which case the boy died in childhood.] William L. Gould ("A Light in the Valley..." [York, PA, 1976], p. 118) states "Jacob remained on the eastern part of his father's place, on the portion which his father had divided off for him. Jacob was the great-grandfather of the late Elder David Y. Brillhart." A note in a genealogical file on the web (internet) offers: "Peter Brilhart married Mary Meyer, a daughter of John Meyer. At a very early date they settled in the valley near the present Codorus Church. That he took up a tract of land before April 4, 1751, is shown by an original land warrant to an adjoining place. He bought additional land by warrants of 1753, 1756 and 1767. These tracts were contiguous, and the principal survey was given the name, "Red Spring." The tax list of 1779 shows him as the owner of 500 acres. He divided off a large portion of the land for his son, Jacob, and that land remained in the hands of the Brilhart family for five generations."
