[57096] "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 4 April 2022: "Dexter - Richard Jennings, 96, died April 3, 2022, at a Dover-Foxcroft nursing home. He was born July 14, 1925, in Brockton, MA, a son of Harry and Hazel (Staples) Jennings. He graduated from Holbrook High School, class of 1943, served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and graduated from Northeastern University with a degree in electrical engineering. He retired from the Raytheon Company in 1980 after 31 years. Richard volunteered at Dexter Healthcare and was a member of the First Universalist Church of Dexter. Richard enjoyed gatherings with family and friends playing cribbage and listening to music but his passion was boating. He became a member of the United States Power Squadron in 1971. During his membership he earned certificates in Seamanship, Junior Navigator, Advanced Pilot and Sail. His family joked about him always buying or selling his boats, that ranged from a dugout canoe to a 42-foot motor sailer. An attempt to list all of them approached 50. He is survived by 2 sons, Richard and wife, Martha Jennings of St. Albans, and Peter and wife, Valerie Jennings, of Cambridge; 1 daughter, Paula and husband, Anthony Sambito, of Ripley; 5 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his beloved companion, Pauline."
