[58543] Clara's obituary: "Jonesport - Clara Tyler Donovan peacefully passed away November 11th, 2024, at the Machias Veterans Home. She was born in Columbia Falls May 30th, 1924, to the late Lucy and Harold Tyler. She attended local schools and graduated from Columbia Falls High School. Clara married Melvin Donovan Jr. November 3rd, 1942. They moved to Portland while Melvin served in the army. After his discharge, they moved back to Mason Bay, where they built a family home and raised their family. She lived in the Bay for the next 75 years. She worked various retail clerk positions, including Montgomery Ward, WT Grant, and many years at the Downeast 5 + 10. In later years, she worked in the Sanford Kelley Blueberry factory. Clara belonged to the Columbia Falls United Methodist church, along with the United Methodist Womens group. She enjoyed her time volunteering at the baked bean suppers, potlucks, and craft fairs. She valued the fellowship among the women in the group. Her optimistic outlook on life and determined mindset helped Clara reach a life goal she always said she would achieve. She celebrated her 100th birthday last May with her immediate family and extended family at the Machias Veterans Home. Clara enjoyed crocheting and quilt making, especially for her family. She would spend a whole year making Christmas gifts to hand out during the holidays. Her family valued her home-cooked meals and the time they got to spend with her. Clara is survived by her son Stuart Donovan; daughters Maxine (Stephen) Savage, and Joan (Bruce) Davis; granddaughters Katelin (Jacob) Potter-Rivera, Jinny (William) Clifton, and Katherine Johnston; great-grandchildren Malisa Johnston, Neil Johnston, Juliette Potter-Rivera, Adeline Potter-Rivera; brother Harold Tyler Jr.; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Melvin Donovan Jr.; grandson James (Jimbo) Johnston; daughter-in-law Carole Donovan; and sisters Letitia Tibbetts and Marjorie Worcester."
