[49464] "Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine], 15 July 2021": "Beals - Osmond 'Buddy' M. Beal, 90, passed away peacefully ,with family at his side, on July 13, 2021, to be with his Lord. He was born in Beals January 16, 1931, to the late Vinal and Kathleen (Alley) Beal. As a young boy he moved with his family to Head Harbor Island. To attend school, which was in a church, he had to walk quite a distance, even crossing a large pasture full of various farm animals. While attending Beals High School, he played on the State Championship basketball team. Following graduation from Beals High School in 1951, he joined the United States Army, where he proudly served from 1952 to 1954, obtaining the rank of corporal. He was stationed in England, where he worked with the Airforce to build a runway, and had the distinct honor of attending Queen Elizabeth's coronation. After his discharge from the Army, Osmond married the love of his life, Barbara (Alley), on September 17th, 1954. Shortly after, he started working in a boat shop owned by his father, Vinal, and his uncles, Alvin and Mariner. He later built his own successful shop, where he built boats that went all over the country. During the time that wooden lobster boats were losing popularity, Osmond designed a fiberglass model which was purchased by H&H Marine in Steuben, Maine. His designs awarded him a place in the boat builder's Hall of Fame. During the summer, Osmond took a break from boat building and would be on the water lobster fishing. One of Osmond's greatest enjoyments was being on the water and watching wildlife. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, where he served as a Deacon for many years. He enjoyed attending all of his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren's school sporting events, and cheering them on. Against popular opinion he was an avid New York Yankees fan. As the eldest male resident of Beals Island, he was honored to cut the ribbon at the opening of the new Jonesport-Beals bridge. Osmond was blessed with many wonderful experiences, accomplishments, and passions during his life, but nothing meant more to him than his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Barbara; a daughter, Pamela Johnson and her husband, Dwayne; a granddaughter, Shanna Blackwood and her children, Zachary and Emma Vincent; a grandson, Erick, his wife, Crystal, and their daughter Alyssa Blackwood; two brothers-in-law, Philmore Crowley and Harry Alley; and many nephews, nieces, cousins, and special friends. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by two sisters, Aseliah Alley and Lovina Crowley; a great-granddaughter, Quintsey Rose Blackwood; and Shanna's late fiance, Daniel Rogde."
[43438] "Ancestors of a 21st century British family" at http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com in 2017 provides Josias' information and ancestry, and states: "Josias de Robillard left France at, or before, the Revocation [of the Edict of Nantes, October 22, 1685], leaving property valued at 19,000 livres (T.T. 232). He and his wife, Marie de La Rochefoucauld, appear in a List of Fugitives, 1685*, from Saintonge. They left a daughter, aged 4, who was placed in a convent. She was probably Marie Thérèse de Robillard, whose guardian, Philippe Benjamin de Mazières, sgr. du Passage, claimed the property of Josias de Robillard and his wife, "fugitifs de Xaintonge" (Arch. Presidial de Saintes. B). Their son Josias was naturalised in England 24 March 1689, and was called "Joseph Campagne" in the Naturalisation Roll. He died at Portarlington, where he was buried, 4 May 1737, having married Lady Jane Forbes (Granard). The de Robillard family were connected by marriage with that of Prévost de Touche-Imbert. It was still represented at Portarlington in 1793. * It seems they in fact fled in 1687? --- Robillard De Champagne was a noble family in Saintonge, several of whom took refuge in England and Ireland. The children of Josias de ROBILLARD, chevalier of Champagne, under the charge of their mother, escaped from La Rochelle concealed in an empty wine cask and arrived safe at Plymouth. Their father went into Holland and took service with the Prince of Orange. He afterward died at Belfast on his way to join his regiment in Ireland. Madame de CHAMPAGNE settled at Portarlington with her family. One of the CHAMPAGNE's sons, Josias, was an ensign in La Melonniere's Regiment of French infantry and fought at the Boyne. He afterward became a major of the 14th Foot. Several of his descendants served with distinction in the army, the Church and the civil service, while the daughters of the family have intermarried with various titled families in England and Ireland."

William was a farmer and livestock dealer. He and Emmeretta lived in Saville township, Perry County in 1870, and in Spruce Hill township, Juniata County in 1880 and 1900. According to her entry in the 1900 census, Emmeretta had nine children. Eight can be identified: Anna Bell, Louisa Jane, Ellen D. (Hellen), Mary W., Sally (married to Charles W. Landis), Josephine, Edward Wharton and Benjamin Jacob."
